Vlada Roslyakova

It's pretty bla IMO. It says that she's currently the russian no 2 topmodel behind Vodianova but going to have a "meteoric rise" (this article comes a little late imo). then it gives information on the beginning of her career, that she's from omsk, her real name is elena, and at first couldnt believe she was going to be a model because the guys at high school fancied other girls. then it describes her career, and in the end lists her top qualities. her doll-like face, big blue eyes, pale skin, soft features which give her a retro allure. the last sentences are about her "lean-back" walk, that other girls only pull back their shoulders and would tumble if they were leaning back like vlada. and that bruce darnell (former GNTM catwalk trainer) said that "on the runway you have to be a diva"

She's the currently N°2 russian top model behind Natalia ?? You're right this article is bla ..

Love her sunglasses !

I just used my mac translation and
Im surprised the article is new but the information is outdated and old
Vlada is a top model but she passed her peak already when they mentioned all those campaigns info

Here is an article which says the truth and which talks about recent Vlada's carrier
http://www.trendencias.com/modelos/...-roslyakova-para-este-otono-invierno-20112012

It's in Spanish but I think it's says so : (Spanish speakers, correct me if I'm wrong:) )
It says that Adolfo Dominguez saved Vlada. She's one of the most important model of the 2000's and nobody has equalled her number of shows (is it true ??). But unfortunately her carrier has slowed down. Adolfo Dominguez saved the 24 years old model from exclusion and announced that she's the face of his main line but also his beauty line (:woot:).
Vlada has as many admirers as detractors because of her unusual beauty. She became the face of Swarovski in 2011 but it's a poor consolation for a top model like her.

I love how the article stands out some facts about Vlada, way more equitable, and use such beautiful adjectives, i just don't like the name of the article:

"Adolfo Domínguez nos rescata a Vlada Roslyakova", "Adolfo D. rescues Vlada R. for us."

Like if she was dead or something, and also stands out a lot that she was fadding away because of the fresher faces which are the fashion industry obsession, but i love the article, but it's hard to translate because it has a lot deep words, and complicated sintaxis. So nice Job Lifeisspeachy, you translate it really well.

By the way, have we seen a showcard for her in this coming season? Does anybody know if she'll be in NY? I hope she comes back !!!

Btw, nice painting WJR i can't even think all the effort you put on it !

if even vlada is skipping nyfw, one has little reason to look forward to it now :(

For me, she is the best model from Russia. Vodianova barely do runways, and is more like a commercial model for me, not high fashion anymore, she decided to do other kind of work. Vlada always has stayed int he HF runways, and she rocks them.

Whilst it's incontestable that Natalia IS the most successful and famous Russian model, closely followed by Natasha Poly and Sasha Pivovarova, Vlada has been, inarguably, the most successful runway model of all times.

In her prime, she used to walk about 85 (!) shows every season, something which even the current favourites like Jacquelyn Jablonski or Sigrid Agren or Jac haven't come close to. Unfortunately, runway presence doesn't always translate into print and campaign work. Lacroix patronised her, but she didn't have the same kind of support from others. If we look at the top models, all of them were either propped up by Anna or Carine, or by designers like Lagerfeld or Galliano or Miuccia. Lara Stone was worshipped by Carine and Tisci and M&M in the beginning, and later by Meisel and Wintour. Karlie is Galliano's and Wintour's favourite, Natasha Poly had Carine's support, Muiccia had been enamoured by Sasha and Karl loves Freya. Vlada didn't have any concerted support by an editor or a photographer or a designer. It's evident that her career has slowed down; she does far less shows than she used to, and she's been missing from shows which she usually always did: Sonia Rykiel, Versace, Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Miu Miu etc.

It's a pity, because she's got one of the most alluring walks on the runway. The newer faces like Arizona and Caroline BN and Jacquelyn and Sigrid simply aren't a patch on her or Natasha or the old gang. Then again, if you're on the wrong side of 20, fashion considers you "old", and is forever on the lookout for 15 year olds. I'm just glad that she's had a reasonably successful career and has stacked up a pile of beautiful editorial work. She may not be around always, but personally, I'm enjoying her occasional editorials like the yet to be scanned one in Numero Tokyo, which are much better than the mediocre, repetitive, rehashed and boring editorials of Anja or Daria or Raquel or Isabeli every other month.

^ agree. I cant get bored with Vlada, she is so interesting. In other wise, Daria or Vodianova really really bores me. As far as I have seen, Vlada is the more constant model I know, she has been in runways like mids of 2004, and she still rocks the runways.

^^

but Vlada hasnt completely passed yet and she still is big on the runways
and still walks a lot of blue chip shows while others have completely phased out, she will stay on the runways for a very long time , imo
a runway queen even all these years

although yes her prime has passed but she still bags campaigns every season like Swarovski and others for this season, Vlada still needs to work on editorials
as she was not exposed much in doing editorials/covers since she started modeling although Vlada has had improvements from seeing her newer eds

I agree with everything you said. Such a great way to summarize her career and status as a model.

I knew she used to do a lot of shows back in the day but I didn't know nobody equalled her score ! Makes me even more disapointed not to see her in major shows (Chanel, Versace last season ..). It's good to see new blood on the runway for sure but in my opinion it's more to see good walkers & Vlada is of course one of them. When I watched Versace F/W 2011 show I thought the line was so poor and most of the models were boring (not to mention Arizona's closing !). Anyway even if she doesn't do a lot of eds anymore, I wish she was as successful as before of the runway because she definetly the Queen !
