Vogue Australia November 2017 : Cate Blanchett & Chris Hemsworth by Will Davidson

given the film they're promoting, they could've dared more. this is SO boring.

i think it got caught up trying to be a different magazine and lost its identity... while somehow using the same group of stars if that makes sense.

Such a shame.

The art direction is simply so meek. VA was on my top 3 Vogues just a year ago with their overall presentation of a very specific mood of outdoorsy, surf-and-turf, easygoing charm. Too quick to rebrand over and over is giving them such an insecure image. I wonder who it is that’s demanding the rebranding— which seems to get worse with this current direction.

True, that's my biggest gripe. The constant rebranding. Sometimes they went at it month after month. I preferred the centred style which we saw with Kim and Victoria's last covers.

Their identity is just as shaky, imo. One month it's Bella and Jordan for the teens, the next it's Cate and the poor man's Brad Pitt for the older type? You don't need to target each and every demographic under the sun.

I will say that Edwina is shaping up the magazine to replace British Vogue in terms of written content. She returned to the long-form thoroughly researched type of articles, which I like. Although I must add that the Bella feature appears to have been written and conducted by a teenybopper.

The cover is not really attractive for me but the editorial inside is pretty good, I kind of like the chilled and relaxed mood from both actors.

Why does it look like her image was pasted into the cover? Its lit differently the image of her in blue would have made a better cover. The eds are awesome tho

Slow burn is exactly the type of edit I pick up Vogue Australia. Easy, relaxed, glamour.

I love slow burn, I want more eds like that. Did think for a second it was shot by Will Davidson though.

Trentini's ed is probably a reject from Vogue US.

The Trentini edit is a US Vogue reprint, lol.

I think the first shot of Slow Burn should've been the cover. Wow, love everything here. I think Nicole did a stellar job, and it's great that she's expanding each time.

The cover edit however is just downright awkward and corny at the same time. Nothing works there. They're both trying way too hard.
