There are some really strong imageries for sure. I like Fernada’s edit if only for the graphic imagery. I mean, she is very one-note, but at least she has a presence, unlike the motley crew of teens standing around, looking like they’d rather be elsewhere that’s dominated Dazed and i-D. And Victoria with the Samara hair is fun, and has that same type of graphic sharpness I’m attracted to in edits.
But the tone is all over the place, and there’s no fashion direction: Some stories are ripe from Another (Summer Bloom), while another seems to have crept here from L’Official (Somewhere Only We Know), and the indecisive tone of Victoria’s two stories doesn’t really pay off— I guess department-store flyer banality vs French Vogue kookiness…? Then there’s the brand of timidness that’s typical of American Vogue with Spirited Away… It all comes across so schizo, and confused as a whole.
