Vogue France April 2022 : Akon Changkou by Anthony Seklaoui

Has anyone ever seen a major publication disintegrate this quickly? It’s only taken a few months for this magazine to lose all relevancy and credibility. An absolute travesty. Condé Nast is going to go down in flames, and rightfully so.

I like the layout of the cover lines, but it’s a strange choice for an image and I’m not so fond of the clashing colours - although I get what they were going for.

I remember when Vogue Paris covers felt like an event, not just thrown up on Instagram on a Friday afternoon when no one could care less.

I agree with the comment saying this looks like a JJB era Vogue Paris cover, but I also think this looks like a 2018 Vogue Germany cover under Christiane Arp

The only thing this magazine brings to the table is hunger.

I bet the inside will be as boring as this cover, each month I’m just so glad I cancelled my subscription as soon as Edward took over

I like the colors, the font is better (albeit a regash of Carine’s era)

but the pose. They could have selected a more regal photo! Not this seemingly slouching photo.

Awful crop, and hate the yellow.
I have no idea who she is, but she's indistinguishable from most of the black models, that European fashion people are obsessed with.
They have a very narrow, and specific definition of "blackness". And that exotic gaze isn't just coming from white people....

Less text and a good close up a la Meisel (remember the Lydia Hearst VI cover? Perfect example of a good close-up) and this cover would have been seducting for readers and fashion lovers.

Where’s the budget? Have they had a location-shot cover since the ‘renewal’?

So boring and irrelevant. Out of all the Bottega looks they could have chosen from that collection, they chose...that? Confusing...

This magazine has no vision whatsoever. It's just directionless and tragic. Even Holiday Magazine is better than this and they probably have 1/10th the budget and 1/4 of the staff. Depressing really.

Killed by wokeness

How so?

I am actually curious to see Akon's editorial and maybe read the article if a gentle soul can post it at some point. I would like to see how they tackled these very heavy subjects they teased about in the instagram caption.

I agree with everyone that the cover screams forgettable German Vogue cover.

I remember Paris Vogue being daring, bold and original which was the time of Helmut Newton, JJB and CR. Now its all PC and woke non-sense which Apperantly not that much popular in Paris….

HIDEOUS. Let's see if one day they decided to give Italian and French Vogue a vision.... It's clear that Edward can't handle too much editions even with reprints...generic Vogue's, i prefer Vogue Spain or all the other European Vogue's....
