Vogue France August 2022 : Ugbad Abdi & Mona Tougaard by Luis Alberto Rodriguez

Why have I never thought of this????

I'm just sat here stunned thinking the exact same thing. All those British Vogue covers by Meisel I'd carefully carry, doing my best not to get sweaty palms or damage the edges with my clothes and not once did it occur to me to get a cardboard folder. You're a visionary, @vogue28!

I've done it for years! A thick cardboard folder comes in especially handy nowadays, given how thin and flimsy most magazines are now! I also put the cardboard folder inside one of those plastic document-holding envelopes for extra support. Yes, I'm crazy.

Not surprised to return to this thread to see such forgettable content from the pages of Vogue France, but I am rather fond of that solo photograph of Mona Tougaard in the Giorgio Armani dress and archival John Galliano headpiece. So poised, so elegant!

the main editorial is gorgeous. super Vogue US!
I’m gonna get this one.

This is like when a genie grants you a wish, so you wish that French Vogue "wouldn't contain so many reprints".

But you forgot to specify what you did want, therefore you don't end up getting anything close to it.

Aside from the cover story, the content is not very Vogue, it's all very Elle, so far.

Samira’s Bazaar possesses so much more creativity, energy and allure than this discount flyer.

This Vogue has become such an afterthought. And it feels such a deliberate act to cut it down from its distinctive, exclusive French celebratory extravagance, decadence, unapologetic feminine smoulder of Carine's and Emmanuelle’s fashiondoms, to this very pedestrian, reserved and PC-catalogue for suburban mall-shoppers.

The coverstory is lethergic. Carlos has got to be the laziest stylist when his effort of styling an extremely pious woman is to throw everything over her in black bodysuit form head to toe. Pathetic.

But even more unforgivable is how Cindy is styled to look as generic and bland as any shot for Payless Shoes.

the cover story is way to static to spark any emotions in me. the girls are pretty but that's about it.

Ok, this is a conspiracy theory I can get behind...

Edward is missing a point: his formula don't work with editions like VI and VF with a long history back because both countries has their own identities/style. The American spirit of this new era is out of the real context in Italy and France. Don't reflect what those countries truly are.

... The American spirit of this new era is out of the real context in (*NOT* just) Italy and France (but the whole effing world!).

Boring and then some. You can tell the people doing the thankless job of assembling this sad flyer have little to no interest in creating anything of substance or transcendence.

It’s all so very harmless and uninspired. Makes you want to pick a new hobby, luckily I’ve found mine!

I've noticed a select few copies have been imported complete with the limited edition Ami beach bag and bandana here in England, for the price of £14.90. Luckily though, standalone copies were still available in WHSmith earlier today for the regular price of £5.95.

Quite rare to see foreign magazines come with the *free* gifts!

Are they good/nice quality gifts?

The main ed is good, decent. The rest is terrible and depressing…
I like seeing Cindy Burna on VP but she definitely doesn’t fit the aesthetic of the magazine while she shines on ELLE.

And really, Carlos is the only name I recognize on this magazine. It looks like something made by interns or assistants.

How can a magazine be relevant if it’s not relevant in the industry?

Saw it yesterday at the store and yes the cover story is good and in print yes it is nice but as you've said that's it. A shame but that's the reality.

Free gifts??? When magazines started with that is a sign of bad sales.

Well, to be precise in Alt's era the august issue used to come with a Vogue T-shirt designed by Isabel Marant and the last ones by Jacquemus so it's not that rare...
But I must say isn't the same in 2022 and after so many bad issues  How is doing in sales Vogue France? I read many of you stopped buying it early this year after Huppert's issue.
