The Ketanji Brown shoot seems to be trending and not for the right reason. Yet again Annie Leibovitz is being called out for not photographing black people right with Twitter folks editing and reposting the pic.

^ I don’t know the full range of reactions and reactors but that article is quoting several white people seemingly complaining about her skin appearing too dark? That seems iffy to me. People sometimes leverage the same criticism at Rafael Pavarotti. One of them literally photoshopped her with “better lighting” (read: lightened skin) as an improvement. The mood and lighting of the entire shoot is clearly serious and dimly lit. Unless Ketanji herself has an issue with how she’s been photographed, it seems inappropriate to me to say of the photos that they’re “low-key giving anti-Black” given the subject herself may love and have approved them. She’s a Supreme Court Justice, not a celebrity. A glamour shot would be tone deaf but I get the sense that’s what the internet wants.
