Vogue Italia August 2009 : Linda Evangelista by Steven Meisel

^^ Thanks radolgc! How many pages does it have!?

rado, can you please make a review included name of photographers there. cause, for example, for me model- its just a mannequin more or less alive (with some really rare exceptions). main theme in the ed is photographer

thanks radolgc. i'm curious to see eniko, she always impresses me.

i made a full review, but the website had some errors and all my work went to...well...it was lost;))
I am doing it again, hope this time it will work.

well, the issue is quite thin, the pages are not numbered and i am too lazy to count them;))lol,It is just a bit bigger than the supplement and the supplements are always the same size.

Ok, here i go again:

cover-you know it already and it looks fabulous!
Gucci Ad with Anja-we have seen it already 1 million times, but i never get bored of Anja
Dior ad with Marion Cotillard-will not even comment on this waiste of paper
Dolce&gabbana ad with Heidi,Mariacarla and Edita-great!!!
Chanel ad with Heidi-very nice
Blugirl ads with some under aged girl
YSL ads with Christy T, the same 2 pages that have been printed in all mags so far
3 boring ralph Lauren ads
Valentino 3 pages with the great Iris-but those ads have been published alrady
Roberto cavalli with karen and isabeli...since I have the catalog those ads bring no excitement
Sportmax with Karlie
versace with amazing Gisele wearing a pink coat
Chloe with Kasia and forgot her name girl
skipping some boring ones
Moschino with Konstance jablonsky(not sure if i spell her name right)
Philosophy ad with some kids-some people call them female models
Ermano Scervino ads with Bianca balti-nice
Pollini ad with Freja-has been printed already
les Copains with I do not her name model
bebe with lonekke looking like a tramp
skipping some boring ads
Vogue suggestions editorial by Greg Lotus-have been posted already,21 pages with 3 models, the only one i know is Tanya D, not very impressed by the ed...maybe it is the bad print and the paper that kills it...and the other girls are plain boring.
Vogue beauty ed by miles aldridge starring Kostanse Jablonsky lloking rather ugly than beautiful with the heavy funny makeup. she looks like an alien who fell in UK, the only good photo is of her sitting on a street among broken milk bottles and 2 kats around her! Miles is a great photographer, but I am missing something here.
1 page with some small photos with Eva and Tyson for the Dolce&gabbana parfume
Giuseppe Zanotti design ad with glorious Anja Rubik!!!! fantastic, although the pose is kinda funny;))
then the main editorial with Linda-beyond words, she is the best!!!!
Iconic items by mario Sorrenti with Eniko on 14 color pages with sexy Eniko showing some breast laying on carpets and beds...i guess every Eniko fan will be happy
some boring celebrity ed by Francesco Carrozzini- the "model" is jena malone
editorial by Tim Walker of Lara look-alike Georgia May Jagger...pics look more like the work of Ellen Von Unwerth or Bruce Weber and they had better used the real Lara and not somebody's daughter-14 black and white pages
and the last ed is also dissapointing-Lou Doillon by Max vadukul who has some obsession with celebrities for the last few years...have no idea why-7 pages of Lou trying to look like a model.
and the last page-the back cover is an ad for Armani with the great Raquel Z.

if you need snaps let me know!

Thanks for the full review radolgc, i especially appreciate the mention of the ads in the issue.

Thank you very much Rado! It's very much appreciated. I am curious about your comment regarding the bad paper/print. Is this something new or has the paper quality been this way for awhile?

not sure how to explain it, i think the paper is the same, but the quality of the print has gone worse...I would like to hear somebody else's opinion from those who buy magazines.
as for the snaps, i will do them tomorrow morning as it is too late now, sorry

I'm not so excited by the review...but as I am in Italy RTM figure I might as well get it...hopefully I can find it tomorrow

thanks so much for the review.
georgia may jagger needs to stop...
but the rest sounds nice

thanks for the great review radolgc :) regarding the marion dior ad, is that the elusive FW09 one so many of us were wondering about? lol

Two of my all-time favorite models (Kristen and Linda) on successive Vogue Italia covers. I couldn't ask for anything more.
And yes, Linda's Urban Decay editorial is very similar to Kristen's editorial from the July issue. But for some reason, I like Linda's editorial better. It's dreamlike and surreal. And I LOVE the whole retro quality of it. The pics look almost like they are vintage pics of Linda from her heyday in the late 80s and early 90s.

And inevitably and unfortunately, the anti-Linda comments (anti 90s supermodels, really) have invaded this thread. I do wonder what these people's reactions to this cover and editorial would be like if instead of Linda, the model was one of today's Sasha/Vlada -ovas.

thanks for the review radolgc! :) can't wait to see the scans of Linda's ed. :)

Okay, so i've gone through nine pages of opinions and i think the general consensus is that the editorial is too similar to Kristen's from last month. I agree that it is indeed redundant. The problem is that when you pull off something as epic as Meisel did last month, doing something again in such a similar fashion will make anyone tire of the concept. That said, i still think the editorial is one of the most gorgeous things i've seen this year thus far and it makes me appreciate Kristen's editorial even more. I just don't understand how omeone coulod say they're "bored" with this, though  the photography is downright glorious. And for those who care, the styling looks impeccable as well (this coming from someone who doesn't really care much about the fashion aspect of it). The notion of Meisel getting older is evidently true, but he's still workin' it like it's 2003 :D I think that iif you are bored with this, look at it again in a few months and you'll bge eating your own words. i think t his is my favorite VogueIT cover of the year. I only hope that next month's cover isn't a celeb or a super so everyone can fall back.
