Vogue Italia December 2020 : Lila Moss by David Sims

Here we go SIGH not another nepo model to put up with

Somehow Lila’s career is more inexplicable to me than Kendall, Gigi, Adwoa, Bella, Kaia, etc. etc. etc. because they all have conventional model qualities and in my opinion they can look super striking in print. Lila, who is a very pretty person, simply does not look like a model, yet she also doesn’t have the social media following or name recognition to justify it. She has 112k followers on Instagram. Come on! The others had doors opened for them, but, at least in some cases, have put in the work and kept with it for the better part of a decade. In Lila’s case, her surname is the *only* reason she’s getting work, and it doesn’t make sense because clearly she’s been unable to leverage being Kate’s daughter into gaining a following of her own. So what do these brands and editors gain?

I like the cover, but gosh are they obsessed with that thread-font thing! Hopefully it stays in 2020, tired of it.

I mean in the case of Kendall she definitely had model looks but people said the same thing about the Hadids and kaia. I do think she seems way too short though

Hmm, not getting the hate. I think it's nice, very sweet. With all the truly horrid covers we get these days, this one is downright great.

I don't want every comments I make to be negative, but WTF is VI doing? Whats up with their art direction? Why is there more than one cover with the string words and outlining the subject? Is it selling at newsstand? It must be for them to keep using it.

Their model choice is another conversation that i'm too lazy to get into.

I wouldn't say Bella has conventional model qualities as much as she bought conventional model qualities. Lila is quite ordinary but probably more striking than Bella's original face IMO.

The other nepo models at least have large followings and can drive clicks and sales....... Lila Moss though? I really don't understand the point.

it’s... ok. I wish her eyes were open, as they should be on a cover so we could actually see if she delivers...
and yes, the hand looks gigantic (was it on purpose?)

I believe Farneti is trying to create his style with this repetitive layout month after month but it’s beyond bad. he needs to stop because it’s not working. it looks like something made for a kids book.
had a quick look at his Instagram profile and he’s being dragged for nepotism and for using D&G. well deserved.

there are also two shots (on Farneti’s Instagram stories) of Lila’s editorial and OMFG they’re terrible! like REALLY bad.

also, enough of this ‘gratitude’, gimmick.

I really think this is a Lily McMenamy type situation... The industry loves her because of her mom, everyone else is sceptical as to why is she a model. Time will tell if she can become great at modelling though. So far there's only a pretty face, she needs more skills.

I don't get the hate. It's decent. I kinda like it. Lila looks good.

I guess some Issues under Giovanni Bianco were ok...at least breathe a little from the legacy. I hear Emanuele in a live interview on Instagram and he said that he respecf what Franca did but that it was her style and he didn’t want to repeat things the way she did. Also he said he doesn’t like much agreesive or sexual photography ( the interviewer asked about the gucci G photo by Mario Testino). And now he will ne on charge of AD until they found a new EIC.

I think we just need to forget that VI will be what it used to be. Even with those low numbers VI still on the run, and basically VI rely their appeal on Vogue Talents and the Photo Vogue thing to impulse new talents.
