Jean Paul Gaultier S/S 2026 Paris | the Fashion Spot

Jean Paul Gaultier S/S 2026 Paris

It feels kinda creepy, like the guest are about to be kidnapped by a mysterious stranger watching from the bushes.

Did they really just show a c*ck on the runway?

What the actual f*ck???? Gaultier is one of my all time favorite designers, this sh*t show is tremendously insulting to the audience and his devoted fans!

It feels insulting. He has access to the archives of one of the most important designers of 20th century, someone who actually revolutionized fashion and all he can do is the dumbest CSM student gimmicks. Even Demna at his lowest troll moments wasn't this pathetic.

This was bad. This was exceptionally and terrifyingly bad. The level of disrespect and irreverence on display here was mind-blowing. There were some pieces that were interesting or cool, but what was this and what did it have to do with JPG ?

I was excited to see what he would do with JPG, but in the end I am left wondering how in the world he got the job ?

Ignorance is pure bliss when you really can't remember the name of this guy or who he is or how he ended up there.. and when you also know that it doesn't really matter cause he won't have a lasting career..

In his defense, you can't be this horny AND go through the archives in proper research mode like a librarian.. that's an unrealistic expectation. There's something about the clothes, they're not even THAT revealing, but the discomfort of the models and how sexualised they came off.. ew.

Where to start.. a lot of this felt very CSM 2nd attempt graduation show, and some of it was downright grothesque. Some good ideas here and there that needed fleshing out but on the whole, has very little to do with JPG in the way it was executed. And no, conical bustier feeling the effects of gravity doesn't pass. Plus, what's with all those hairy prints?! Transgresion that feels forced and inauthentic. Giving more enfant débile than enfant terrible.

Is he going to do couture too? If so, god help us! Much prefer the previous format of guest designers, or this should have gone to Tisci.

I feel like I watched the worst show ever! I felt insulted as a JPG fan collecting the tapes of his 90s/00s shows. I feel so sorry for all the models wearing that sh*t, especially for Lulu Tenney who's surely decided to walk because it's by Piergiorgio. She had to be shocked at the fitting. Beyond disgusting, nothing to do with Gaultier. I felt those hairy looks were a parody of Yasmeen Ghauri's SS'1993 bodysuit. Horrifying, tasteless, shockingly bad!

At least he made it clear that this is targeted towards children with “Junior”.

Unfortunate that such a visionary label that was known as much for its surreal wit as it was for its couture craftsmanship has now been reduced to kiddie club costume basics with desperate and reductive clickbait/editorialbait/viralbait. Somewhere amongst the heaps and heaps of Teletubbies costumes, I see a generic pleated skirt, a leather jacket, and a golden sequinned coat that’s decent enough.

Never thought I’d see the day when I would prefer the efforts, the dressmaking, teh thoughtfulness of Jacquemus’ last offering to this excess of nothingness. But here we are. Gaultier should quietly go away, while the label still possesses some dignity.
