Vogue Italia September 2011 : Stella Tennant by Steven Meisel

I do have to go back and retrace the previous covers....but this does seem to me to be the best of the year, like Kristen's oil cover last year.

it's a non predictable cover that's for sure but quite.... scary!!!!

Perfect cover. That's what VI covers stands for eye-catching and a little bit disturbing. I really hope Steven gets his MOJO back for the rest of the year, but this already looks really promising. Can't wait to see the full story.

This cover has left me floored. I haven't seen such an amazing cover from Vogue Italia in a long time. It's strange, gothic and definitely striking.

I think so too. VI covers honestly don't speak to me too often but this image has life in it; it's not so smooth and staged-looking.

STELLA!!! You gotta love her... at age 40 and still looking fabulous (and with a nose piercing nonetheless). And I love that VI takes risks with its covers, especially with important issues like the September issue, other magazines would do well to take note (*cough* US Vogue *cough*).

^ But the thing is Vouge US can't take risks like Vogue Italia and I don't think that they should. They've never been a particularly risky magazine and that's fine.

I would not necessarily agree with this... let's not forget Helmut Newton's work for the US Vogue... Nadja Auermann making love with a swan... Helena/Cindy editorial - Helena standing on the hair of screaming Cindy and many more...
These editorials would have been contraversial even today...
I just think they've changed their direction dramatically and became so utterly boring...

by the way, I do find VI utterly boring too... they've been playing 'too safe' for very long... but not as long as VP... anyway, even if I consolidate all my appreciation for Stella... this cover still make me cringe a bit... I do think VI needs a new main photograppher because Steven has just been recycling himself for too long now... they need some injections of novelty... and freshness...

I think we're talking about the covers here, not necessarily on how a certain editorial should look like, etc.

HC Supplement cover(I think it's Frida by Paolo Roversi)

And an ed preview by Steven Klein

Doesn't look like Frida. And are those Crystal Renn and Lydia Hearst on the 2nd photo?!

I think it's Frida not only because it looks like her but because there were photos of her,Jac and Kristina on a couture shoot by Paolo Roversi

:clap::clap::clap:
so it was for VI that amazing shot by Roversi. Now I'm more excited than ever about the content :woot:

im not totally sure about the supplement cover, but a roversi ed + a klein one + the meisel cover got me so excited about it. sometimes the mag arrives the same day as milan here aswell i'll see if i can find it or else i'll get it tomorrow morning and post a review (if someone doesn't do it first)

Yeah that's what I meant. The cover and contents are totally different.
