Vogue Mexico & Latin America December 2021 / January 2022 : Arca by Tim Walker

I love Arca, her style, music and the fact that she's covering Vogue (which I never thought would happen...) but the images themselves are not that great. I really wouldn't have guessed this was shot by Walker.

The first one is so sparse already that the lazy layout makes it feel...incomplete. The production design on the second is not really working as a fashion cover, maybe on i-D but not Vogue.

Oh Tim... so disappointing. For a man that once delivered such magical and incredible imagery that could leave you speechless, this is quite an embarrassing output. I can't say that I'm familiar with Arca or what she does, but she looked much better in i-D last year shot by Mert & Marcus. This feels rather tacky and cosplay-y and I just don't like it at all!

These must be VM's most experimental covers to date. The yellow one looks interesting.

I prefer the first cover. It was enough. This is a great get for Vogue Mexico/Latin America. Have they ever given a cover to an LGBTQI+ subject? I can't recall. But Karla certainly knows how to read the room.

The second image doesn't work for a cover.

The second cover is interesting, but the first one is absolutely hideous.
I can't imagine women in Mexico, or Latin America embracing either of these covers.

The first looks like it was picked off modelmayhem. Second is interesting

I don't remember if the mexican cover of December 2019, also by Walker, was digital or fold out. @JPineapple must know.

Yes, this is the first time a trans woman is on the cover of Vogue Mexico. As @ivano mentioned, the muxe cover of december 2019 (also by Tim) is a foldout unfortunatelly.

Whoah I wasn't expecting this! Happy for Arca, she deserves it. The imagery is very much her aesthetic, but I feel like Tim could've elevated it a bit more.

This looks like any of her instagram pictures….terrible covers (pictures and layout)…

I love both because it’s Arca, because this representation is so important, now more than ever!
I do prefer the first one even if the use of the Mona Lisa + Future is so brilliant! suits Arca like a glove.

The first cover is ok, but the second's is horrerrous to pay tribute to the Mona Lisa & Arca looks like Lourdes León on that photo.

so far is a little American Horror Story and I am expecting more from Mr. Tim Walker!!! let’s wait for the rest.

Looks scary! And I love it. It's not that common this kind of editorials.
