I love seeing a bit more softer side to Lara, she' usually this sex bomb type of woman. I like the second cover but the preview is the most exciting for me. Now I can't wait to see more.

Yes, Kate! Also looking forward to the edit based on the preview. It looks insanely cinematic, a young Anita Ekberg comes to mind.

^^^ Take away the presence of the maid, and it's a generic advertorial for Ann Taylor, Bloomingdales, or any of those mid-range department stores that belong in Cosmo.

They'll never be edgy, Phuel. The Mexican edition, I mean. It will always be excessively commercial due to the vast demographic they must appeal to. Same goes for any edition edition with an audience exceeding 150K. Look at what's happening with your beloved Porter.....

Re Sgura, I think he's really more of a photographic consultant. Because that's actually what he does when he starts working for a new edition. He develops a style which in his mind will appeal to his client's audience. His work for InStyle matched the mood of that magazine, same for the Vogue Germany, Vogue Japan, and now Vogue Latina America edition. In that sense he's very versatile (no pun intended, :lol) and perceptive. Look at these covers. They wouldn't suit the German or Japanese Vogue, nor InStyle. He's not like a niche photographer who will run across the globe rehashing the same crap over and over again (Ellen von Unwerth/Weber), and that's fine. I can certainly appreciate such an approach, although people could argue that he lacks consistency.

The Vogue brand has ceased to be a high fashion leader in this era. Although VP, Vogue Australia and VI are still carrying the high fashion flame for me.

That’s a good point about what Sgura is about, Benn. I’ve never cared enough about what he does to take an moment to think of him as such. As a visual consultant for mass marketing, he’s a lot easier to swallow (no innuendo intended cos Bluto is not my type…). I still think the covers are an insult with their basic, telenovela-done up Lara. Mass appeal/ readership-target doesn’t need to be so cheap-looking.

I’d still take Bruce and Ellen any day at their recycled worst over this guy though, since at least they’re presenting their distinct direction (maybe not with Bruce’s all-time low Vuitton efforts LOL)— as tiresome as it may be at this point in their careers. Catalogue photographers like Sgura who edit so lazily for their demographic would be blacklisted from high fashion— which Vogue still seemed to grasp vaguely onto as a brand more or less these days, if I were in charge. People like him would be relegated to Cosmo, InStyle, Glamour etc. He is like a catalogue-version of Mert & Marcus in that sense.

(BTW, I still like Porter… Even with Bella on their cover. She actually looks of flesh and blood, and of warmth— unlike her usual wax-doll stand-in for Liv Tyler. Porter may be samey samey at this point, but their consistency with a sophisticated dose of effortless elegance is still attractive to me. It never desperately screams LOOK AT ME— I’M SO FASHONE VICTIM like that current insufferable i-D issue.)

Lara ALWAYS delivers! So beautiful! The first cover looks like something Lisa Vanderpump would wear though lol

Ugh, hate to agree with you, but I see it as well. The preview shot is the only good one. You can tell that the aim of this feature was cinematic storytelling, but it was ruined by the awful daytime lighting and a model who couldn't execute properly. Bombshell models are normally very attuned to these type of storylines because it actually doesn't demand much. 'The discreet charm of Kate Upton' shot by Faena for V magazine is a good example. In fact, it's nearly identical to this one, but more superior in many ways.

   Bluto???

lol if you ever thought Lara Stone was lightyears away from an Univision Telenovela, think again .. tacky Miami styling suitable for the ruthless tobacco empire she heads, check, sleeps with [blind] husband's assistant who in turn sleeps with the maid who obviously is the center of the story and possibly the real owner of the tobacco empire... triple check. :meow:

These days, Lara's dead-eyed stare tells me all she's thinking of is the moment she can clock off and collect the money. This appearance is a lot better than most of the stuff she's done recently, but that's not saying much.

They cut the main ed in the Latin version. I'm tired of that

She’s not even bothered to hide her disdain for this job with her deader than dead stare at this point. She's clearly so over all of this. You can literally tell her mind is somewhere else— likely thinking about her husband getting into her lingerie drawers again when she gets home... If it were anyone else, no one would be swooning over these awful shots. The power of the Lara brand!

(And yes Benn— Bluto LOL The moniker you gave to these Muscle Mary types, I believe…)

Come on, she is Lara F#cking Stone!!! She's a legend, like Natasha or Gisele. Her face is unforgettable. She could be an actress, she's got the look for that.

Lara's editorial is garbage but I am loving those three cover images. Vogue Mexico have been killing it lately, with making Adwoa Aboah look the best she's ever looked last month and now Lara Stone.
