Vogue Mexico & Latin America September 2016 : Andreea Diaconu by Gilles Bensimon

Really happy for Andreea but boy, how I hate the styling!

Also hate that VM sells in Latin America just because it´s in Spanish... "Why do we love Fall?" Spring is coming to South America! I wish some other country will have its own Vogue, Chile perhaps?

This is lovely! And Fall in Mexico City is COLD so this cover is appropriate. But kokobombon, I totally get what you're saying. South America could use its own version of a Spanish-language Vogue.

One of the best models out there. I love to see her, and also it makes me happy because this sells in my country. She's one of the covers subjects that I always wanted to have. And she was photographed by Gilles! I loved his cover with Edita. Perfect match.

I get your point, but i think is very hard to please every country down her. Im on the caribbean, still south america. We dont have a proper fall season, but Sept/Oct/Nov/Dic are the coldest months of the year. So many people get to wear boots, light coats and sweaters.

I know that in Argetina, Chile, Uruguay... Seasons works opposite, but i dont know if launching a Vogue for a particular country will work, maybe a suplement. Besides that, i think they are doing a good job balancing info about diferent latin countries. The issue with Juliana Awada was pack with argentinean content... From labels to tourist spots. With this strategy they project local designers internationally, and helps to potentiate our region!

Like 12 year ago there was a "Vogue Venezuela", full of reprint from the US version, but cero regional content.

The first cover's breath-taking  Could do away with the green dress. Or at least tone it down, is actually super distracting

The region is a continent same as Europe and there´s a Vogue for every major european country. So I don´t think that launching a eg Vogue Chile will be a detriment, considering that many Vogue editions are not living up to the standars. It could focus more on the actual region designers and labels, including international content because those labels are available, aren´t they? (either in stores or online). But I don´t know the logistics or interest of launching yet another edition, this is just wishful thinking :flower:
But I see argentine editions of Harper´s Bazaar and Elle, they reprint but also produce their own fashion stories with a mix of international and local talent, both in designers and models. So it´s doable imo.

I thought Latin America normally get their own cover, separate from Mexico? Maybe that feature won't be in there then? Anyway, the outfits may stem from autumn collections, but it was photographed very summery, especially the second one. That way everybody wins, no?

The first cover looks passable, but there's something very pedestrian about it.

^LA gets its own cover when they do multiple ones but the main story is always printed. It can look summery but if the styling is all fall, it can get frustrating

I have a question that may has already been answered but the second cover they always make, do they print it with the same layout as the first one? Because they always show it with just the masthead so I was wondering if that counts as a real cover.

^it´s been forever since I bought a physical mag but I think the second cover is always an inner one.

Vogue Latinoamerica, as we know it, is only a 16 years old publication. Before that, we had a bimonthly "Vogue Venezuela" here. In fact they used to write "Venezuela" below the title on every Conde Nast magazine.

It was VERY thin, suplement like, and the only thing venezuelan in there was the ads. They always reprinted those fold out covers from the "Hollywood Issue" of US VanityFair.

I don´t know if they did the same with other countries, now im corious...

^I know there was a Vogue Argentina back in the early 2000s but I don´t remember ever buying one.

Yeah, the season is diferent, but I like the idea of having magazines with these models on their covers. I see this as oportunity because I'm a collector. The Latam version has between 150 and 200 pages, 100 or 150 less than the mexican version. Is because some brands like Prada, Dior or Valentino don't sell their collections in this part of the world. Sometimes I get mad because I lose some campaigns that I would love to have in print. Also I buy the Latam GQ (with lots of editorials, with male models, from another editions of this magazine, but less ad campaign) and argentinian ELLE, wich promoves more local designers than international clothing, and some perfume campaign. The march and september issues of ELLE are mind blowing, the rest of the year is more modest. Vogue has good pictures all the year and well-known models.

The cover's quite lovely, you can tell there's a new EIC.. something about this model's teeth-lip combination bothers me (silly I know) but she looks gorgeous here.

The seasonal thing is mostly that it says "Fall!".. because the styling itself is transition season-friendly, it's even more Spring than Fall in my eyes... at least by the time October and November rolls around, who wants to wear any more florals? most are after the typical darker palette fall/winter.

I know nothing about how Argentinian productions work and only ever bought Elle Argentina while leaving there, and frankly I found it all oh so confusing.. they have their own fashion bubble with their own big designers and I feel like they're almost prioritized over international brands (I'm assuming the reasoning is availability- koko?), which to me compromises the "principles" or whole point of Vogue ("" because the right word escapes me- god knows they kneel at the church of Kimye these days). So that leaves us with adapting it or working around it like Vogue Australia tries, so for something so little, maybe one for all?!.. personally I find nothing wrong with living ahead of time, that's fashion.. the northern hemisphere sees coats before the first summer heatwave even hits so...

^ in Argentina only a few international brands are available but in other countries of the region that's different. Every now and then they have local girls that work internationally on the cover wearing labels, Cecilia Mendez wearing LV a few years ago pops in my head. At this point, I think Bazaar is bigger than Elle in terms of brand (they had Mica recently). I don't think there's a market in Argentina for our own Vogue (too many crisis, too many political movements) but I think it's different in countries like Uruguay or Chile even Peru (perhaps I'm terribly mistaken).
I remember feeling frustrated back when I used to buy the physical mag because if I wanted to see the next season's trends I already had the chance to get the other editions. I wanted a mag that reflected my time and place to get inspiration and ideas. Otherwise, why would I spend money on this mag? They're really never collectibles...

Each issue of Vogue Latin America comes with regional content pages at least here is that....but yes, the cover have nothing to do with the season....maybe they need to rethink that....maybe at least try to do a story and cover for the region....Latin America have nothing to do with Mexico in terms of season and weather...its SOUTH America for a reason....

it's like Ferragamo in Perú, they sell the fall collection in spring...they are aligned with the north hemisphere....weird....
