Vogue's Top 10 S/S 07

Whatev'...It's all so one sided. :shifty:
I think they were afraid to put Versace on the list even though it was well deserving of it.

well, we have to bear in mind that advertsing plays a huge role in these decisions , i know hussien does not advertise so he is an exeption but
most of these companies have huge advertising budgets ( or are owned by big spending advertisers)
it may not be the only factor , but it is a very important factor.

Versace has a better chance of being in the top 10 even if a whole Vogue magazine was advertised in Louis Vuitton.

i kind a liked the louis vuitton show--it really is pulling from kporean and japanese street fashion. i like how much he refernced yohji in marc jacobs show--but not inspired. just flat.

You might be right, but in this case it's not very believable: Marni, Hussein Chalayan, Dries van Noten, Narciso Rodriguez and Alexander McQueen don't really advertise..So in this case it doesn't make sense to me.

Also those who are the most hyped get to the list...and McQueen is one of those designers they "have" to include.

The first part of the list I agree with. The second it's only Marni!

And what about Yohji Yamamoto and Jil Sander?!

No Rick Owens?

Dries, Marni, Lanvin and Balenciaga were quite exceptional this season. Narciso always makes it to these lists, still oblivious as to why??. Marc Jacobs sent 2 of the most horrible collections he has ever done.

I think Rick Owens might make it on W list, at least I hope so, the collection was amazing.

I'm sure the one that didn't make it will be listed on something else in the future!

i quite agree with vogue.
From the list i like Louis Vuitton,Marc Jacobs and Yves Saint Laurent.
IMO marc did good job this season.YSL is one of the most elegant show so far.

Why is everyone so down on Balenciaga. Its like they're angry that Ghesquiere garnered praise for that collection. Not sure why...I mean OK it was "FUTURISTIC" in the most cliched sense of the word, maybe it had been seen before, but otherwise it was extremely well done. It was different to what 90% of the other collections did in the sense that he wasn't doing tunic-y flowy stuff; and it totally changed my eye and inspired me. I thought it was excellent.:flower:

Because there are different opinions. You liked the collection, good for you, but I didn't. I did like the other futuristic collections, but I saw nothing interesting in Balenciaga and while Ghesquiere is not the worst designer he is far overrated in my opinion. The collection didn't inspire me at all. I thought it looked boring :flower:

The thing about Balenciaga is that it'll always make the lists, even if it's really crappy. :ninja:
And Prada used to make all the lists too, no matter how good/bad the collection was. So I was actually surprised it's not on the list this time, even though it's a very bad collection IMO

well, he did produce one of the best collections of the season, and if there is a designer who is deserving of the hype, he is. He is one of the most gifted designers ever, and could stake a claim as possibly the greatest designer of his generation.
and this is not opinion, this is fact.

well. i did say that it may not be the only factor, and after all. McQueen and Balenciaga is owned by Gucci group, which is a big advertising conglamorate
Some of these companies don't advertise, but would if they were making enough money, so you could argue that it is advertisers and potential advertisers.
either way it makes no difference, we all know it does play a role in these decisions, as to how big a role (and what the other factors are ) only the people who make the lists are certain

Chalayan could not be denied he was just tooooooo good ths season!!!!!!!!!
