Vogue's Top 10 S/S 07

I am happy that McQueen, DVN, Marni and YSL are on the list, but style is such a personal thing. Everybody here might has his/her own top 10, it's no need to follow vogue's.

^^Thats true, but it seems as if Vogue went out of their way to pick both of Marc Jabos' lines.

Was I the only one that liked Marc by Marc Jacobs more than Louis Vuitton or Marc Jacobs?

Nope! I loved Marc By Marc Jacobs.I think if that line was a diffusion line, it would be taken more seriously. Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs were just blah to me this season.

Moschino Cheap & Chic was really good too, but again, diffusion line.

I gather ALT doesn't agree with this assessment as his Vogue column this month is all about how much he hated the NY shows, with a few exceptions--and Marc is *not* mentioned :innocent:

PS ALT = Andre Leon Talley, US Vogue's editor-at-large (but not as large as he used to be ;))

I have to laugh at Marc Jacobs getting lauded for "Japanese experimentation with cut and volume" when longtime Japanese experimenter Yohji gets no mention, for what I consider a far superior collection.

I guess experimentation is only OK at Vogue when its been watered down and assimilated by a Western designer.

idk how i feel about marc jacobs being one of the favorites. he's a very overrated designer. granted, he has a lot of cool pieces, but sometimes it's just blah. and his spring collection was one of the worst i have ever seen.

hussein kind of reminded me of a colorful version of lanvin, but i have to say, it was pretty impressive in the video. imagine it live. wow. pictures certainly do not do it justice.

loved marni. loved dries van noten. loved ysl's set.

does anyone know the qualifications for the top 10 of vogue? is it solely the pieces or does presentation have to do with it? not only the presentation of the clothes, but the sets?

I think it is mostly based on what is hyped and expected to sell well, not exactly anything else. A lot of designers they include stay on the list just because they have always been there and they have credit, not because of creating a fabulous collection.
