Vogue's Top 10 S/S 07

:woot: I'm so glad, because I loved Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, YSL and Lanvin, but where is Blumarine, Missoni and sweeeeeeeet  Chanel? I loved them really much as well...

Meow, White Linen ;). I never said others couldn't have opinions, just wondered why the majority of people were so vocal against it. It seemed to generate anger almost. I 'm assuming from your response that that anger was beacause most felt that the praise was undeserved, and thanks for clearing that up.

Well, I never thought you were saying there aren't different opinions :flower:

I just tried to express that people do not dislike the collection simply because of the reasons you stated.

I apologisize if I made you think something else :flower:

first of all why Narciso again???
then, why Balenciaga? why Lanvin? why MJ? (at least LV was better..)
as for McQueen, the collection is brilliant but its so very 'not-now'
i cant see this as relevant to 2007.. romanticism is a bit dead imo

glad Dries & Marni did it, i wanted Owens there..

im actually VERY VERY happy prada didn't make the list
i'm surprised LV & hussein lanvin made the list
i liked them, but they weren't the best
john galliano should definately be on there
same with balmain and givenchy in my opinion
but alexander mcqueen, marni, dries, YSL especially were amazing this season
narciso i think wasn't that good, but it was my favorite collection narciso has ever done

you are spot on on your coment!!! I agree with almost everything, i would just exclude Marni ( as its was just ok for me!) :D

McQueen deserved to be on the list. SO did Balenciaga. Both of Marc Jacob's lines didn't. I can list sooo many other lines that were better than LV and Marc Jacobs. Galliano? Blumarine? Versace? Chanel? Armani? Burberry?

No Prada? It wasn't my fave collection, but doesn't it usualy make the list?
I was expecting that myself but it seems a tide has turned

Versace is unfairly out of the list...Donatella was amazing this season, it was THE show to see...

I agree with that. This was one of Versace's best collections in some time, and it deserved to be included.

I don't think Vuitton belonged-

but I agree with the "uninclusion" of Prada. I see Her influence as declining.

Always Balenciaga... at least I feel Ghesquière does well on occasion, which is a sentiment I can't echo for Narciso Rodriguez, who I find impossible to like. And I actually thought Marc Jacobs was pretty decent this season, so we know which New Yorker I'm backing... On a sidenote, I don't know what's happened, but I've found myself losing major enthusiasum for Lanvin over recent seasons...

^ While I have gained Lanvin enthusiasm :p
I am really surprised not to see Versace on this list. It was really good this season! I thought that Marc Jacobs did great collections this season, bot in NY and Paris, do I do not mind him on the list. What I also expected to be on the list was Burberry. As opposed to Balenciaga, this was modern and futuristic in am approachable and season relevant way. Plus it was really good!

As much as I love McQueen and feel his work is pretty much always (excluding that horrible gladiator crap a couple of seasons ago) undeniably gorgeous, I don't agree that he should be on this list. It was a beautiful collection, but with other designers of his status stepping outside of their comfort zones to try new things, and causing such varied and strong opinions, to see the same silloheutes as last season was a dissapointment for me. Although I see how you could say the same about Balenciaga, for me there was more than just the decoration that was different. I don't feel there is much innovation left in fashion in it's purest sense (technology of fabrics and performance is where I feel its at), I think people like Ghesquiere and Elbaz had a good go at trying to achieve it.
I do love McQueen and this collection though, don't get me wrong.

^ ditto on mcqueen, brilliant collection but so out of the ss07 'new' mood

I think McQueen and Lanvin surprisingly made it to the list because there was a departure ... they went against the grain even to their own standards .. Lanvin was pure rock n' roll and McQueen went all the way feminine!

I agree about romanticism is all the way dead .. and now it seems that people are pickin' up some type of 60s vibe/conception about the future ... and I wonder if this trend will pick up -as seen on Balenciaga, maybe thats why it got picked-

Marni and Dries and Chalayan were THE surprises for me ... Im still going wtf?

MJ & Vuitton ... blah!

Versace should be on this list! Especially over Marc Jacobs.

Was I the only one that liked Marc by Marc Jacobs more than Louis Vuitton or Marc Jacobs?

Overall, this list, like US Vouge, is just not with it.

I dont agree totally with the list,
as Editor I dont like Sally Singer
what such a taste
so american!

Prada not on the list?! Blasphemy!

i actually think miu miu should have been on the list. imo, in the last two seasons, they've shown one of the most relevant and modern collections. not to mention, s/s'07 was very fresh with longer lengths.

this list is so biased^_^

I gather ALT doesn't agree with this assessment as his Vogue column this month is all about how much he hated the NY shows, with a few exceptions--and Marc is *not* mentioned :innocent:

The first 4 I'd agree with but then they lost me.

I also agree that Miu Miu should be on the list, the SS07 collection was amazing.

The list needs to be rethought, the fact that Marni, Narciso and Marc Jacobs are there seems like whoever made the list just said: "Quick! We need a pile of American fashion!" and grabbed those three.
