W Magazine September 2015 : Gigi Hadid by Steven Meisel

'Mourning Glory' is perfect just soooo good, one of the better Natalie Westling editorials.
'Cuba' is just blah.

Turns out the logo and the coverlines are not pink, but gold foil. Much better.

It seems the gold leaf cover is a limited edition, meaning they probably wont ship the special cover to the UK. The gold version would've been an instant purchase for me, but now I'm not so sure:

“Gigi's social media following is her currency, and it's pure gold — literally, so we’ve produced a limited-edition gold leaf cover,” says W’s editor-in-chief, Stefano Tonchi, referring to a luxe version for those who want to really hold on to Hadid’s biggest cover coup to date; it'll be on newsstands in NYC and L.A., and will be sent to subscribers. (You also can obtain a copy as a new subscriber, starting today, if you’re really fiending for that gilded treatment.)

Also, Gigi's feature was written by Lynn Hirschberg. That should be interesting.

The Cuba ed is bad. Not in line with the rest of the content.

I don't think any Cuba story is going to compare to Mikael's for Porter

mikael's cuba for porter is pure gold. that one is many levels above this one.

porter fall issue is the best sept issue so far. no other issue come even close to it.

I like the Cuba editorial. I would have loved to see Adriana and Joan cover the September issue rather than GiGi. Even though I like GiGi, I just feel like the shoot was a let down.

After Kate Upton, Hadid must be the model with the most ordinary face to have had so much success out there [in the history of modelling]. I get absolutely no vibes from her.

Gigi is a beautiful girl. She looks like a modern Michaela Bercu. That's why i think so many people are obsessed with her. She is that kind of 80's beauty.
.

Someone once said that Gigi Hadid looks like a prettier version of Fergie (the singer), and I can never look at her without seeing that resemblance since.

Hmmm maybe if they had gone with a stronger photographer the Cuban edit could have come out better. Maybe Klein? McClellan seems kinda b-list for such an important edit. Adrian really outshines Joan though even though the whole edit seems quite lackluster no doubt thanks to the great Cuba edit in Porter.

Mourning Glory is spectacular!!

Ines and Vinoodh taking pretty clear stylistic inspiration from Tim Walker and I'm loving it!

The hair and makeup in the Cuba ed is so obvious :rolleye:

I'm not that familiar with Cuba's locations but funny how the only pic that actually seems cuban looks like an stock photo :pink:

I don't think any Cuba story is ever going to compare to Patrick's for Harper's BAZAAR US...
Mourning Glory is a superb editorial, everything works perfectly and Nathalie is a star

You're right. I bought the issue here yesterday and it's normal pink logo and black coverlines.

My opinion of Willy's work in general is very hit or miss. Love it when he shoots on a set with interesting backdrops. It's the b&w studio shoots which I loathe most. Looking at them here, it could actually be from anyone!
W fashion team sure likes to feature Binx Walton, cannot keep track with her quantity of edits for this magazine.
