Ideas for mothers day
these are all ideas off of the top of my head as well as past mothers day gifts that I have done:
1) a start to finish day of pampering 1) breakfast (brunch - after mom sleeps in for one) then a back rub and manicure at a salon, then some shopping for clothes (she never buys for herself) and a movie at night
(this takes a lot of money though)
2) re-decorate or rejuvinate a room for her... preferably a sanctuary type....I did her sewing room, which was a pain in the ***.....22 years of buttons and trims and bolts of fabric...
3) movie marathon of her preferred genre, some ice cream and more 'luxe' food goodies she doesnt always indulge in...four movies does a day well
4) books...from a favourite author, or a new author based on current preferences...a book she can enjoy for ages!
5) (warning...corny--ness levels are HIGH here...not all can handle it)
a what you love about her/why you love her collage....or book. I made a childrens book for her one year (she owns a daycare) ...or you can create a collection of sage advice she has given you over the years, because they love to know we listen to what the tell us, hehe
6) I havent done this but there are lots of cool 'monthly' clubs out there...
ie, there is one for blue jeans, underwear ( maybe not for mom), gourmet cheeses, bacon (yes bacon!) , flowers, books, et cetera.... you pay a lump sum and they send a unique item to her doorstep each month.....I looked into these this year but they are beyond my budget... I love LOVE the idea though.
7) if she has a home office, and is not always well organized, there are a lot of 'clutter experts' out there.... they will organize, sort, and re-file everything....i liked this idea because its a practical gift, but it makes quality of life a bit nicer....again too pricey for me though.
8) personal assistant for a day
9)anything hand-made (soaps are big one...everyone uses soap...and martha stewart's website has some awesome recipies!) well..I suppose not all moms would like this. some would prefer an hermes purse....but I guess my post is more geared towards...er....people with a lower budget...mostly..
10) a day trip somewhere...nearby but say a few hours travel...somewhere she doesnt go very often on her own. ie if you live in vancouer, a daytrip to vancouver island, old downtown victoria area specifically is fun, so much to do there, and definately a bonding thing...
anyways its late and Im rambling, so I hope this helps some of you!
