who are you going with and what will you be doing there????
work or vacation?

mostly fun, a little family (so a little work). I anticipate beach, cocktails, eat. not very vigorous or too dressy, but I'd like to look put together (as much as I can in hot humid weather). my issue is that bigger bags are more convenient to travel with (especially with a kid), but they don't tend to go with warm weather outfits. and I don't want to bring more than one bag (other than a small something for going out or clubbing). I would have brought my spy if it hadn't died and to be honest, I'm tired of my balenciaga (but still a good suggestion angel). and many of my bags are black which I think is out. I leave in less than 24 hours and haven't a clue. but thanks for the help ladies. maybe it would be better to list the options?

bronze python silverado
monogram speedy
beige paddington
green bv hobo
green gucci bowling bag
white bv hobo
pewter donna karan bag
geometric miu miu tote

I know I'm forgetting some

and btw, I started this thread not because I think my personal dilemma is so interesting, but to allow anyone else who is struggling with this issue a place to seek advice. but maybe I'm the only one who doesn't like to travel with multiple bags.

my choices would be:
bronze python silverado 9 it would shine gloriously under the miami sun!!)
beige paddington (very versatile but on the heavy side)

that would probably be my first choice too, but I really find the silverado a pain to travel with. the straps are difficult (if not impossible) to wear over the shoulder and it's not as easily accessible as others. and the paddy is too heavy, I agree. thanks wafaya!

python silverado or gucci bowling bag..
what about roxanne? (i thought you had a black one.. no?)

if you cant decide, just grab your speedy.. light, practical, and its almost impossible to damage it. (light, fits a lot, waterproof, AND scratchproof)

I fear the roxanne is too heavy (the idea of carrying it while I'm sweating isn't pleasant) and it's black, which I am trying to avoid. I am seriously considering the speedy for those same reasons you listed (and because I'm so in love with it at this moment), but I fear that the monogram will look old lady-like in florida -- is that dumb?

i wouldnt worry about looking like an old lady..
id be more concerned about the "ive tanned myself to death and im in my juicy terry dress wearing dior sunglasses toting around my lv speedy" thing... as long as you avoid it (and im sure that you will ^_^ ) you should be fine.. i think..
i donno i havent been to florida for a while so i might be completely wrong

i can definitely relate - we also go to florida once a year to visit family and i often have the same dilemna. i usually go with what's most practical and don't take my favorites (unless they're either indestructable or already somewhat trashed). so based on that i would choose either the speedy, donna karan or miu miu. and i don't think you need to worry about how you'll look with the speedy, i've been reading your posts for awhile and i just don't think that will be an issue based on your style and wardrobe.

my dilemma exactly -- stylish versus practical. obviously the best would be a little bit of both.

I like it best because it'll hold everythign you want... carry you from day to night if you need it to... the color is light and summery... as Florida is.

The paddington is way too heavy to carry around all the time... the balenciaga is kinda blah.. or that's how you feel... the python has handle problems as you say... the speedy is hand carry.. I prefer shoulder..

I'd go with the green or the white bv hobo. ;)

i agree with luna, i LOVE the bv hobos but would worry about the suede lining (unfortunately from personal experience)...

white BV hobo! itll go good with summery outfits, and plus i've heard that those bags are really light-as in not weighing much..is that true? if it is, i'd definately say the white BV. plus it can hold a decent amount, no?

same pros and cons you guys identified with the white bv: light and appropriate yet a little high maintenance (and for me, it's not the suede lining but the white exterior which seems to get dirty just by looking at it). the green bv is much more durable but is the army green with grommets a bag to wear with filmy tops, short skirts and sandals?

gucci bowling bag...the color is fun and the size/shape are ideal for travel... fits perfectly under your seat as a carryon and would be a good daybag
