I love this thread. I was wearing Essie's E! Live From The Red Carpet -- which is just a really basic, bright, fire-engine red -- but I hate the way that red looks chipped on my fingers so I went back to Angel Food, which has really become my go-to color.

By the way, for you lovelies looking for some good base coats, I (a girl with hopelessly thin nails that will never grow to be any sort of length and just peel all day) can recommend the following:

- CND's Stickey -- Sort of described by its own name. A soft and sticky base coat that really seriously anchors polish to the nail, and also supposedly stops a lot of future chipping
- Sally Hansen's Ultimate Shield -- Always my first base coat. It doubles as a top coat, too, and I think it really does strengthen a manicure and make it look new
- Essie's Billionails -- My favorite maintenance treatment between manicures. I even apply it every few days on top of polish and notice my nails getting gradually stronger
