What do YOU look for in a bag?

sorry if im posting this in the wrong place but i just had to show sumbody this bag.Iv only jst seen it and i love it

'Fendi's Beautiful Blue B Bag is our fashion fantasy-Spring Accessory'

I look for a bag that im instantly attracted to. If a bag says 'wow!!!' then i'll buy it, but i also get practical bags too...- basically if i like it and i know i'll wear it, then i buy it

I like my bags to be sleek looking. For color, I prefer solids, I don't like busy things and in fact hardly anything in my closet is patterned. I usually go for classic colors like black, white, brown, red, or blue so that I don't have to coordinate too much with my outfits. I did recently get a Mandarine Speedy, which is totally out of character for me but I love it. I'm also not a fan of exterior pockets. I don't mind the zipped hidden pocket in the back of the bag but that's about it. That's why I've never liked Marc Jacobs bags, and I don't like any of the MJ-ish bags at LV either (Manhattan, etc.)

Style needs to be classic. I'm 21 years old and a student so if I'm spending all this money on a bag I need to be able to carry it for years.

And the third thing for me is probably recognizability. I don't like to carry what everyone else is wearing, but it's nice for others to appreciate what you're wearing. For example, I hate the monogram LV line, but I love carrying epi or damier. Fashion insiders know, without everyone questioning me whether or the multicolor bag I'm carrying is real or not. =)

I agree with mustard - I get bags that make me excited right away. And I love rich looking bags - rich in the sense that they are well made with equally rich looking hardware, not necessarily $$$. And for some reason, they're all brown...

I am always drawn to the IT bags but the less exposed ones so im not inclined to carry a balenciaga because in my opinion its too over exposed, however I look for large size, classic-ness i.e. its not just a come and go trend , it will be in fashion in 50 years , it has to be durable and overall i just have to love it to peices !!!:D :D :D :D :D

I  large bags, but they must be light. That's why I love ...the Fendi spy.

Agree! That's what sold me on the Spy as well. And that's also why I don't have a Paddington or a Mulberry.

In general, I like shoulder bags that are easy to get into. I don't like a lot of individual compartments, because then I can never remember where I put stuff. I prefer a single strap, as double handles always seem to fall off my shoulder. Backpacks are great for travelling and all-day shopping expeditions. I especially like my LV Ellipse backpack, since I can lock it.

Color is all over the map, from brown to cream to black to orange, to lots of colors with sequins. I like to use small, brilliantly-colored bags as accent pieces.

Chemistry. Its like when you fall in love at the first sight, and then you resist but discover that the bag has endless qualities such as its uniqueness, style, shape, colour, leather etc..anything that makes your heart fall hard...
Thats what I look for in a bag...it what makes me move and get it...

When I buy a handbag, I generally spend a couple thousand dollars on it so it's something I want to be able to use FOREVER. Therefore, I stick to classic shapes and designs, such as a Chanel tote or 2.55. I don't generally get into the expensive trendy bags like Spy, Balanciaga, etc. I know there are those who would disagree, but I don't think the Balanciaga Motorcycle bag is a classic, nor the Botkier. My bags are either very expensive or fairly cheap, like an LL Bean Tote Bag.

My taste changes all the time too, but a few things I look for are practicality, versatility and quality. Like recently, I want a bag that's big enough to hold all my junk, but doesn't make me look like heading to the laundrymat. I don't mind paying the price, but it better lasts a good long time, so I prefer safe colors and styles, such as the monogram or black.

i need a larger bag, i carry my life in it.
and i need it to fit on the shoulder, i cant deal with a bag you have to carry in youre hands

masquerade - i'm totalling with you! i love larger bags and also never end up using the ones which i have to carry in my hand; i just can't deal with it.

other than that, i like classics too that are subtle and not "obviously designer" such as all-over monograms or large logos. and must be versitile cos i hate tranferring things back and forth btw bags...i'm lazy that way.

I need something boxy and roomy. Maybe a couple of simple compartments. Handles long enough to go over my shoulder but short enough it doesn't drag on the ground. It needs to be structured almost like carry-on luggage but lightweight enough to carry daily. I don't like it too rigid, there has to be some give to it too. As much as I like my slouchy hobos, I cannot find anything when I am in a hurry and things often get crushed on the bottom. My motorcycle bag comes pretty close to my daily needs but its not structured or large enough. I love leather and the worldly traveler look.

i like exclusivity...
limited edition...
things like that...

and loads of other details as well...
i am quite picky...
:ninja:..

Elegant and classic; therefore most of my bags are hand held and have safe colours. However, due to a change in lifestyle (two small children) I've started buying roomier, shoulder bags so I can fit everything in. And because I wear a lot of black I've been thinking that perhaps I should consider bright coloured bags?

for me the balenciaga bags are perfect. for women those moto bags are SO versatile, and can easily take a girl from day to night. me personally being a man i prefer using my balenciaga messenger during the day, and carrying a belt bag/fanny pack at night (there are a couple nice ones in the Louis Vuitton damier).

but back to b bags - i love how simple it is yet has all the details that make it unique. it's also probably the only bag with a visible front compartment that i LOVE. So easy to just store my cigs and phone there and take them out whenever needed. Then it has the nice inside zip compartment for wallet, etc, and finally the rest of the bag for everything else! its just perfect! not to mention eye catching

and those are all the qualities i "look for" in a bag, although like men, i tend to just randomly fall in love with certain bags. while the ones i keep my eyes on for awhile before i buy usually wind up boring me as i proceed to sell them :innocent:

i would go for BIG bags. i carried a lot of things. and i prefer leather over other kind of fabric
preferably it would be a shoulder bag.
my fave is balenciaga :P

It's always so different for me. I love bags and pretty much always manage to find one I just HAVE to have. It all depends on what I'm looking to use it for. I often go for slouchy type leather bags, I like them to be slightly big so I know I can fit everything I need to in it. I love brown and black leather because they go with everything although I own a surprising number of colorful bags. At the moment I am using a mustard slouch bag in leathery-type material that I have customized slightly myself.

If I see a bag and immediately make an 'awwww!' sound, that's a good sign that it's for me

I like larger bags usually, and I really enjoy bags that are unique and standout from a crowd. The more creative the design, the better. When it comes to pracitcal stuff, I really do love to have an exterior pocket and a cellphone pocket inside...however, it's not a dealbreaker for a bag I love.
I like tassels on bags, like the Balenciaga or Givenchy pumpkins and cool hardware like the Paddington and Betty. I have alot of bags from many different designers and all sorts of colors...variety is good :D

I must have a larger bag that opens wide. I have bought small bags and they end up sitting in my closet. I also need an opening or pouch on the outside so I can throw in my keys, receipts or change to be sorted later. i mostly do black but do own other colours used once in a while when the mood strikes. I prefer leather really baby soft leather but do own other material bags. Im always looking for the perfect bag. I hope I never really find it because I love the hunt!

I look for nice workmanship in bags. I don't want something that'll fall apart after only a few wears. I look for exclusivity like softgrey too... I don't want to wear something that EVERYONE else is wearing. I also look to see if I can actually get INTO the bag without having to pry. On that note, I don't like bags with zippers that scratch my fingers everytime I try to grab something out of the inside.

Longevity, mainly, both in quality and design. I can't buy an expensive bag on a whim. Anything loud repulses me, too. Past that, it's mainly just an instinctual reaction of "yes" and "no."
