What Is Your Favorite 'Basic' Piece?

I wear a lot of pink, so my basics are normally pink. I bought a kind of a brushed velvet little blazer from Banana Republic a few years ago. It is a pretty shade of pink and looks fantastic w/ a black turtleneck, dark jeans and boots. To think, I considered taking it back b/c I thought I wouldn't wear it! Thank goodness I didn't.

My other staples are...

long sleeve black jersey pullover shirt with the following requirements.
1. sleeves must be able to pull over my hands easily
2. fabric cant be too stretchy or that shiny microfiber stuff
3. fabric cant be too thick or too thin
4. neckline cant be a V but must be slightly "relaxed" so I dont feel choked
5. Fit cannot be too tight or too baggy. Should just graze my body.
6. Cannot be too short must cover my waist and reach the top of my hips. or longer.
But, since I live in Texas I can only wear long sleeves about 2 months out of the year. So, the rest of the time its tank tops.

yep, my favorite basic is a black long sleeve, v-neck, cotton tee. I love it because it goes with everything (casual that is). Also in the winter I love my black pea coat!!
