Hope you dont mind me cutting in and recommending some stuff to you, concerning this product. This should have gone on your face after exfoliating and toning...it says the next product you used is a refiner so that signals to me a 'scrub exfoliant'? You just exfoliated twice then and probably stripped your skin, depending on how long you left each product, but the Idealist product my grandmother uses, and its a serum that helps to brighten up uneven skin tone, so if you want to try it again I'd suggest cleansing first, with a real cleanser instead of the oil-cleansing-method (I just dont think skin really gets that 'cleanliness' and preparation for following products from only an oil cleanser, but that's just my opinion...) so, next time, do a double cleanse, first your Shu Uemura oils, then either a foaming cleanser or milk emulsion lotion cleanser, then your refiner, then tone and THEN the Estee Lauder Idealist.

Not the red bottle that your grandma probably uses So this type is actually kind of an exfoliator and kind of a mask! It burns when it goes onto my skin, but it doesn't leave any blotchy patches, and my skin hasn't broken out so hopefully it's just part of what the product does. I ought to look it up! I wanted to try the actual Idealist but the SA said that they ran out of samples for it Have you ever used it?

I have no idea why they call it a "skin refiner", but it's actually a toner... I don't think my skin could handle exfoliation everyday

I think the nice thing about the Shu Uemura oils is that they lather with water, so they both the job of a cleansing oil and a foaming cleanser. I am SO thankful that my skin hasn't reacted to the mineral oil... Imagine having to throw 900ML of expensive oils away!
