I'm an homme. I've seen a couple other threads similiar to this, but all have been for women. I'm going to Paris in July and wondered if I could get some tips or ideas of what to wear and what not to wear. I'm not asking any of you to give me a style make over...I'd just like to look the least American that I can (although...I'm sure it'll still be obvious that I am American). And don't worry, I'd never wear fanny packs and baseball caps, so you don't need to tell me that.

Basically, what do men...actually, teenage guys wear during summer in Paris?

Just don't dress like a fratboy or a eurotrash.. then you'll be okay...

I'd recommend you get a decent pair of lightweight pants.. be it lightweight denim (APC has some) or wool pants..

a decent pair of shoes.. which allows you feet to breath, because of the humidity in July, your feet can't stand a chance in a "normal" pair of shoes.. no flipflops..

in terms of colours.. i think it would be nice to go with something light and earthy.. just avoid "flamboyant" colours like bright yellow, fluoro pink or something like that..

.. and the fabrics to wear, definitely have to be lightweight as well.. you would want something that allows your skin to breathe..

Damn humidity

yeah.. shorts works as well..

although I believe it really comes down to your body type.. some can carry the shorts look, whereas other just can't.. you have to judge by yourself...

.. but get a pair of well fitting shorts.. avoid those baggy khaki shorts..
Dries showed some nice fitted plaid ones some s/s seasons ago...

I think there is a shorts thread in the "Trends" section somewhere.. maybe you could get some inspiration from there..

Chic. I went to Paris when I was really more of a tacky person, now I wish I could go again.

Id wear...

- Navy w/ white horizontal stripes cardigan
- Grey crewneck tshirt
- Some really cute jeans (like Sevens, something that isnt tacky)
- Black driving loafers
- Black draft tote

If youre walking you might want to change shoes, cause driving loafers are my shopping shoes...not walking shoes. When I was in Paris I took cabs everywhere...

Okay...

A linen shirt in like a really bold yet classy color, short sleeve button down.
Some really cute cuffed shorts that are really closely cut to your leg, in khaki.
Driving loafers, please dont wear sneakers, at most like a Puma.
Cute sunglasses

Id love to go back to Paris *dreams*...

what about sperry top siders? yes/no?
What are Sperry Topsiders?

I googled it...Theyre not that cute...They're okay, kind of clunky, a driving shoe is a much cleaner and chicer look. If you want, it's very...American looking...

don't wear shorts when you don't want to look like a tourist. I don't know many Parisian men who wear shorts. And make sure you don't wear sport shoes.

What to Wear in Paris?

I'm spending this summer in Paris going to school. I have been there once before, but I was wondering if anyone could give me some absolute must haves to plan on packing. Anything that I don't already have I will try to make, but I need some time to plan and get it done. I probably won't have a lot of $ for shopping once I'm there except for maybe some accesories and a few things. I usually dress pretty casually in jeans, cute top, cute shoes and I use accessories to make my outfit stand out more. Everytime I travel I realize that I left something so great at home, so I want to avoid that as much as possible.
