I really adore this outfit:heart::D rather curious about the price of the leather jacket... anyone knows that?

Well I just graduated, and this is what I ended up wearing:

cream calvin klein skirt, it's pleated at the waist and it has forest green leaves heavy on the bottom of the skirt, but fade upward.

Olive crochet tank top with silk underlining

cognac colored kitten hills

dark tan s/s cardi, b/c i has a bad rash all over

But yeah, that's what I wore, and like it's was perfect. Alot of girls wore dress pants and stuff.

Graduation dress?

I'm graduating soon and having a hard time finding what to wear. I really like the cocktail dresses that I see from gossip girls. I'm looking for something fitted coz I'm really tiny. Right now I'm thinking of styles that are similar to these ones:

The black halo dress is sort of a last resort if I can't find anything else. It's classic but I think it's kinda boring. And the phoebe couture is the type of dress that I want to find. But I can't find my size anymore in that dress :( So if anyone has suggestions, would really appreciate it. And I'm willing to spend about $300-$400. Thanks in advance

You should try asos.com...they have many styles of little black dresses and they're affordable too!!

Good luck and hope you find what you're looking for!!

I graduate (from high school) in June, and most girls in my class are already obsessing about what to wear to the actual graduation ceremony and to the one million parties that lead up to it.. I feel over it already, but I do want a pretty dress.

In Sweden it's tradition to wear white to one's HS graduation. So. My idea is to find an antique Edwardian-era white lace dress; then have a tailor alternate it to fit me perfectly. Most early 20th century dresses are ankle length, at least, and I want knee-length. It seems practically impossible to find one (on eBay, anyway) that is in good enough condition while also being aesthetically pleasing, but I'm determined to do it!

For shoes, right now I'm leaning towards pairing the dress with beige/black Chanel two tone flats. Would that work? I won't do heels anyway, and plain black flats seems too average.. Any ideas for potential accessories? A bracelet of some sorts maybe..

I have no idea. And I don't really care. Sure, it will be nice to graduate (in late June), but I'm taking supplementary courses from August to January, I need them to get into medicine...so it doesn't feel that great.

Beige/black seems potentially too strong for a delicate all-white look ... to me a soft metallic (pewter, bronze) vintage looking Mary Jane would be nice. Nude might work ... or a pastel like lavender ...

Good luck finding the dress  Another option might be to find lace and have it made into a dress. Didn't Tao make things from handkerchiefs a few seasons back? I was just thinking it's not that hard to find various linens in good shape, it might be an easier starting point. You might also find it difficult to make major changes in a dress out of respect ...

Please help me pick my graduation outfit!

A little background: my graduation is probably more important to my parents then it is to me. Granted, I'm extremely excited to be moving on to the next step in my life and etc. but I don't find much meaning in receiving the diploma.. it is what it is. Keeping that in mind - I'd like to wear something that will suit the day and my parents more conservative approach.

My body: I'm a curvy size 2 with a large bust and a small waist. Keeping that in mind, strapless dresses often make me look a little hoochie. I want something tasteful!

Anyway, these are the dresses I've narrowed it down to:
White Frilly Dress - not my usual style but might suit
Red Sonia Rykiel smock dress
Love this look but not sure if its appropriate?
Another favorite but pricey
The dream dress

Input? Suggestions? Anything would be much appreciated. TIA!

shopbop, asos, net-a-porter

These are the choices ...

I think the Sonia Rykiel is my favorite.

I assume you'll be wearing a cap and gown, so the point of the dress is going out afterwards, right?

PS The red dress does not appear to be made for someone who's busty ... well let's face it, most things aren't. But all of the other dresses look to be more accommodating. The white dress least so of the others ...

My mom insists on making a big deal of my graduation. I wasn't even planning to show up  I can get my stupid diploma online. Imight just wear a lace cream blouse, pearl earrings, cream satin flats and a black blazer. Nothing I wouldn't wear on a regular day.

^ I really regretted going to my college graduation. There was no real commencement speaker, just the chancellor & I think his theme was 'believe in yourself' if memory serves  Just a complete, dead bore ...

Neither of my graduation experiences were memorable. Maybe it was just the schools I attended, but in both cases I felt like the organization, speakers, and ceremony were one big PR stint:(

In my high school graduation, we were fitted for caps and gowns, and requested to wear white dresses underneath (girls). I never understood the point of the white dress, it's not like anyone could see it.

For my college graduation, again it was caps and gowns, but no further instruction. I remember painfully regretting my decision to wear high heels, there was a lot of waiting around standing up and walking.

I missed my postgrad graduation, where there was no dress code. The ones I attended for my friends were a lot of fun; informal setting and sincere, kind words all around...and plenty of drinks afterwards:wink:

Oh, I forgot to mention that we dressed nicely for the postgrad ceremonies. A bit like we were going to a fancy restaurant, nothing black-tie, just elegant and not too brazenly sexy (many of our professors were there after all).

We had to wear white dresses to ours. So I bought a white dress a few hours before. It was Grecian-inspired and I ended up wearing it this past Halloween for my debut as a Greek goddess, teehee. =)

Glad it came in handy. Maybe white dresses are traditionally worn for graduation? I went for a plain knee-length number, as I didn't want a dress that might disrupt the silhouette of the gown. Call me crazy, but I love those gowns, it's like wearing a medieval cape. I felt so cerebral and studious in them.^_^

The girls had white robes, so we had to wear white underneath due to the sheerness, I guess. The guys wore blue as their robes were blue. Blue and white were our school colors.

^ I used to love watching the professors come in wearing their various academic gear ... one of my professors had the coolest hat, it looked completely medieval & was very colorful, it matched the--what do you call them, stoles?
