ive been hearing a lot on green tea lately(i must seem so unssociable:P) but i heard that the benefits of it are simply amazing, with the like of victoria beckham drinking it 5 times aday, i heard the benefits include glowing skin, higher metablolism(?) and overall greater well being

if you know anyting about it please post because i have just started drinking it and i dont know if its just a waste of time

thanks in advance!

Being Asian, green tea has been established in my diet ever since I was a toddler. My family and I drink it cold as our beverage of choice (over water. I don't remember the last time I drank clear water. It' must have been more than a decade) and I drink it hot at nights to de-stress. With the combination of my diet (I eat korean food, which is generally healthier than American foods thanks in part by the small portions we eat and other stuff) I think I can safely say that it's helped me maintain my thin figure.

Green Tea is one of the best anti-oxidants out there and - I know this sounds a bit juvenille and weird - it helps you sh*t. So I guess that's where the weight loss thing comes from. I think.

I remember watching an episode of Oprah (the only episode I ever watched) where she replaced her usual cups of coffee with green tea and lost a significant amount of weight (I think 10 lbs). I don't know the time frame for which she did this, but still, 10lbs is a lot.

omg 10lbs, i wouldnt mind losing that, im trying about 4 cups a day, does it matter if its hot or cold?

Oh my god YES.

My 88 year old granny is the biggest green-tea drinker I know (about 10 cups a day for almost a century, :P) and she has completely poreless, smooth, spot-free and almost wrinkle-free skin it's unbelievable.

Like Bargain Queen we drink at least 4 cups a day, it's quite normal in Japan. It's wonderfully refreshing, I love it.

And yes it's pretty well established that it prevents cancer.

Hot or cold, either way. Please don't add sugar though. B)

What about honey?

Hi Kalli, welcome to the forum!:flower:

I'm sorry Kalli, I was just being a Japanese tea-snob...tongue in cheek of course...don't mind me. In Japan we never add sweetener to traditional teas, and drinking and distinguishing subtly different leaves is amost sacred. These days though, there are many great blended and flavored green teas (from Mariage Freres for example) which I'm sure--health considerations aside-- would go wonderfully with sugar or honey. :flower:  Enjoy!

I love green tea  I usually add a touch of lemon juice just for a different flavor. My doctor actually recommended it to me because I was drinking far too much coffee and replacing it wth green tea has really made me feel healthier.

i used to actually b addicted to coffee... my mum took me to the doctor and stuff, but they wer like u mustnt drink it bla bla but they never mentioned green tea!

whats white tea? sorry if i sound really stupid

White tea is produced in a different way to all other teas. The leaves come from special varietal bushes and are not processed but are dried in the sun. Only special leaves are selected, the ideal is two leaves wrapped around a new shoot. After drying the leaves are again selected and sorted by hand.

White tea is especially potent in that it is has three times as many antioxidant polyphenols as green or black tea and has been shown to be 100% more effective in mopping up free radicals that cause skin to sag. Some of the world’s top cosmetic companies are becoming very interested in white tea for skin creams and the result is that high grade white tea is becoming even more rare than before.

i dont think it really makes you lose that much weight...i drink about 1-2 litres a day and it hasnt affected my weight...however i am really healthy and i never get sick (touch wood!)

White tea is very expensive. But if you have the resources to purchase it, then I say, go for it!

I recommend that you don't add any sugar (or honey or any sweetner in that matter) to green tea because I think it distracts from the natural sweetness/very mild bitterness of the tea. If you brew it hot then drink it cold, the sweetness intensifies.

Does anyone have theirs with milk?
I do....
