White / Pale Nail Polish - Trend?

Unless done by a professional, very trashy indeed. Straight white being nearly impossible to pull off casually, it's like someone took whiteout to themselves. Lighter pale colors... hard unless the person's skin color is extremely fair.

This past weekend while I was in Portland I was on the train and saw a woman with white painted fingernails.. only it literally looked like she used white-out on it, because the surface of her nails was all rough (not smooth like a polish would look like) and it was all over the skin around her nails! She wasn't a teenager either. This was a grown woman, at least in her late twenties!

My favorite pale polish of the moment is Nars Candy Darling. It's described as "pink" but I found it to be more beige. It really is the perfect color.

Is it discontinued? I didn't see it on the Nars website but found it on ebay. You're right...it is a great color!

samoan sand from OPI is just like that color, very beige no pink, I don't like pink, i dont think it goes with asian skin.

I do not like white nailpolish, makes your hands look dark, and sorta highlights any flaw or scratch in them.

I also agree that it depends on the white, can´t be too opaque neither too mate.

But my friend had a nice hwite the other day and i realy liked it.

I'm not a fan of the white, though perhaps an off white would look okay, I have yet to see it..

Though nude colors, or pale browns, are really stating to grow on me. A bit darker than the Nars in post #26 would be perfect

Essie makes some great pale polish. I usually get the light pinks. You can find their polish at Ulta.

I have been looking like crazy for the right one for some time now. Though today I saw one from Nilens Jord. It looked like it was the right color though I did not try it. But I don't have any experience with their nail polish
And I can't seem to find a pic of it anywhere..

My favorite light color is Essie's Sugar Daddy. It is a very sheer light pink, it just really makes my hands look neat ad clean. I love it.

I've been wearing a lot of pale colors this summer and have noticed that they tend to yellow with time. I don't smoke, use a base and top coat, and it *still* turns yellow. Anyone else have this problem? And is there a solution? I love the way pale colors compliment my skin tone, but when it turns yellow it just looks unhealthy and gross.

^ yep, happens to me too, but i feel like polish on my fingernails lasts all of one day in any event.
