i actually like whitney's look... she's edgy enough to pull it off. Audrina and Lauren could never wear that outfit, but she looks good in it!

I don't think there's anything edgy about Whitney's style. She tries to look edgy all the time, though. However, she fails every time, as evidenced by that atrocious headpiece and outfit she wore to the finale (or whatever that party was).

But SJP looked good, she can pull stuff off like that, she has style even if she's not the most beautiful woman around..but there's something about SJP that just makes her an IT style icon..with Whitney however, she's a miss on all accounts.. always..her style is awful.
she's sweet but super boring, she's pretty but not really beautiful.. her face usually looks strange, she just has ana amazing figure and she's really tall- but that's it. But i don't get the hype either.
I think the show will do well because people are keen to see a reality show from NYC since the Gossip Girl series but that's all. I'll watch it more for Olivia P than Whitney..she never brought anything to the Hills and i'm still in shock she has a spin off.

Probably because there was so much of her we didn't see in The Hills - so it's almost like a clean slate. Also because the setting suits her the most: you can't imagine stylistically challenged Heidi getting a job in NY and hanging out with that crowd. She was probably prepared to move as well, and Audrina may not have been.

I partially agree with your statement, but one has to take into account that MTV does its research beforing investing money in a particular show. Of all these reality girls that have been introduced to the public by MTV only Lauren and Kristin C. can successful head their own show. I still feel that MTV is taking a gamble with Whitney but she is the best choice out of the 4 (Audrina, Lo and Heidi).

Whitney got the spin off because she is likeable(even more so than Lauren in some circle)... she is not nearly as overexposed as Heidi and Audrina not to mention there seems to be some substance to her.

There is no way famewhores like Audrina and Heidi can even lead a show... they are not endearing, smart, likeable or even interesting enough to get 3+ millions young women to watch them. It is not a question of whether or not Audrina was prepared to move to NYC... if they had offered her a show... she would have taken it even if it met filming in anartica... she is just not protagonist material.

^yes i agree and that's what i meant, even if she is more likable than Heidi or Audrina (of course she is! H and A are total fame whores) i still look at Whitney and think of her as someone that is sweet but doesn't fit into the whole NYC scene (I could barely see her in LA, she just didn't seem how to hold her own or speak with confidence)
I feel like she should be out in the middle of the country in a large ranch out in the fields.. she looks like a hippie chic that should be out in the fields.. It's hard to explain but I think MTV is taking a big gamble, they should have just put Olivia as the head girl of the City , and not bothered with Whitney.
