Who are your least favorite designers?

NY "IT" designers-Porenza Schouler/Zac Posen and such-too much hype and not enough talent,if you ask me.

+1 for naming Proenza Schouler
WTF with their clothes? I saw a couple of years ago some feathers-top at Colette, it was ridiculous, and now it's more and more boring.

Anyway I just noticed that the people I know usually talks more about Jack and Lazaro than about the clothes :innocent: that might be the secret with their clothes

I pretty much hate Roberto Cavalli! I'm also not a fan of Carolina Herrera.

^_^ maybe. but some of their clothes are really good. i like the name, quite unusual (they combined their mothers' maiden names). anyway, i'd add to this list tommy hilfiger.

Celeb designers are a given.

Ones off the top of my head that never/rarely impress me:
Versace
Gucci
Donna Karan
LV
Kenneth Cole (eh, I have a sweater from KC but that's the only thing I've really liked)
Tommy Hillfiger
Ralph Lauren
Burberry
Heatherette
Betsey Johnson
DSquared
Calvin Klein

Elie Saab and the bores of New York fashion week

i wonder why new york has become boring. i like calvin klein, but i agree new york fashion week as a collective, nothing stands out. there's still some great pieces from each though.

Roberto Cavalli.....without a doubt..... I don't really strongly hate anyone but Cavalli is the exception....

Cavalli - The man just makes trash which wannabes like Posh, Coleen and all the other orange footballers wives (u.K) desire!

celeb designers
and i really cant stand Kamora(sp?) Lee Simons, baby phat anything YUCK!

I wonder too. But I hesitate to make any speculations without up-to-date knowledge of the financial goings-on... I think Francisco Costa has worked wonders at Calvin Klein, but from an outsider's perspective it would seem he's entered a struggle which is probably similar to many we never see: that of New York-based fashion newcomers trying to make a name for themselves, in an environment where the biggest culprits of bore still dominate. And I mean those who haven't changed speed since before the officewoman went chic...

I mean to say New York doesn't always seem too friendly towards the more promising side of emerging talent. But I'd nonetheless love to know the real answer...

Marc Jacobs, whose thrift store bargain bin appeal is flummoxing to me. All of his lines.

Thakoon, because it's awful, trite, and his silk pieces are hideously unflattering, even to the models.

And the usual suspects: Versace, Armani, post-Ford Gucci, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste, and Zac Posen.

Edit: And, of course, Valentino, whose anachronistic bromides reign over all.

yep. i agree. also, new york is friendly to young designers who are backed up by people in the industry (zac posen, proenza schouler, derek lam). other than that, most people aren't exposed to the up-and-coming ones who may be talented but lacks any support needed for the glitz, in my opinion. i'd also like to say that zac posen is overrated.

I'm not gonna elaborate on Versace, Heatherette, Andrew McKenzie, Jeremy Scott, DSquared and Cavalli, they've been named by far too often and they are indeed also on my permanent no-no list.

Add to that:

Dolce & Gabbana for their vulgar display of sex, and constantly showing tacky, studded jeans and overpriced jogging clothes on the runway. I also really detest how literally they interpret trends, I hate all that cheapish Baroque stuff that will look dated and cheap next year, totally not worth spending a penny on in my opinion.

I am constantly unimpressed with Marni, I neither like the silhouette, nor the colour combos or prints. I also really hate their foowear- and accessories collection.

Marc Jacobs mainline collection is getting worse every season in my opinion, this new F/W 2006 show being one of the worst shows I have ever seen. Even if you take away all the horrible styling, the clothes themselves taken as separates are rather bad taste. Once again, his are always the worst runway shoes.

Wolfgang Joop / Wunderkind Collection. God, how long will he continue haunting us Germans as the most well-known fashion persona? He's even more famous than Lagerfeld, thanks to constant media exposure... and the clothes... just stiff, uninspired and tasteless... ewww.

Walter Van Beirendonck, I just hate the gaudiness of his clothing, last time I browsed through his shop, I saw a bright green tails jacket with it's shawl collar covered in Hungarian flower embroidery... YUCK!! May I also suspect him to brainwash his students to do equally 80ies-trash inspired clothing?

lol wow, Why does everyone hate Versace, Heatherette and DSquared, those are like my top 3. lol. But I have to agree on Cavalli and Marc Jacobs....Cavalli is just wannabe fashion and Marc Jacobs is so boring u mite as well wear nothing.

Zac Posen - why is he so hyped am i the only one seeing boring ugly uninspireing clothes coming down the runway???

FrostFrench - Why are they doing this?

Voyage - do they still show a collection on the runways? just vulgar:yuk:

zac posen and marc jacobs are both overhyped and overrated. the endorsements really are mind boggling.

versace... roberto cavalli... zac posen... dirk bikkembergs..

and marc jacobs may be over rated.. i cant dislike him for that though.
