Why do my subscription mags appear on newstands 1st?

I also hate when they don't come wrapped in plastic and the pages are messed up.

I feel wasteful when they arrive in the packaging. I subscribe to 13 magazines, and can't stand when even half of them arrive in the wrapping... so much wasted plastic... and also, wasted time opening them. ;)

Anyway, personally, I think it's the postal system who is to blame. Everything probably gets delivered at once (I could be wrong), but of course those newstands get the priority.

Honestly, I don't mind. I'm so busy with other things that sometimes it takes a month or two to get through an issue. Though I'll admit that lately there have been a few issues I have been eager to have in my hands! :flower:

Hi all, it seems the longer you subscribe the quicker it comes in the mail. As subscribers ahead of you drop out the more you move up the list in you zip code.

With me it was the other way around. I had a subscription to Elle Magazine
and the first couple of months it would always arrive one day earlier
than you could buy it at the newsstands. Eventually it would arrive 5 days
late every week. I cancelled my subscription after two years.

Ugh...I hate this..........EVERY magazine I suscribe to, I see on the stands first.

So really the only benefit of suscribing is the discount.

Why can't every magazine follow Harper's Bazaar US, Vogue Paris & Vogue UK's footsteps and send the subscription copies out first? It doesn't cost any more money does it? Too much hassle? :ermm:

I hate getting my subscription copy a week and a half after it hits the stores.

I used to work for TIME magazine (and Fortune, Sports illustrated etc) and this was a regular complaint by suscribers. As someone already said, once the magazine is printed, one part goes to the newsagents for distribution and at the same time the other part is a) labelled b) wrapped and c) distributed via the local post office channels. Needless to say, the newsstand copy arrives first.
