Why Do Some Designer Bags Go On Sale & Not Others?

I noticed that some high end brand names go on sale at their stores, like Tods, but never others, like Chanel and LV. Why is that? Does Gucci ever have a sale? Thanks!

I believe Gucci, Fendi, Celine, Chloe, Marc Jacobs... all go on sale at the end of each season.

But LV doesn't do "seasonal" items, so they don't have sales. I think thats the way it goes at least.

also, Chanel does go on sale. I've seen it but it wasn't worth it.

I know also great brands as LV, Gucci and Dior go on sale but the styles are the worst, they just try to use the name to sell stuff that have been unsold since many times...

I know that at the end of each season Gucci stores put all of the merchendise on collections, and also most major dept. stores put designer bags on sale as well.

yes...a bag the size of your palm that retailed for $1500 now only will cost you $900...a steal!

I think almost all designers put bags on sale besides LV. I know Dior, Chanel, Prada, Fendi, Gucci, etc. all go on sale. I think the best bag sale is Gucci, because they mark down every seasonal bag, and there are always at least a few left.

LV does not put things on sale in order to keep the image of the brand. They should at least be putting seasonal shoes and RTW on sale, which they do not.

You are forgetting the KING.

is it Hermes of who you are speaking? I was going to comment about how I had heard that even they put an occasional bag on sale, but wasn't sure if that was totally correct, so I didn't.

But of course. No, they never put bags on sale, as far as I know. I've been to Hermes sample sale once. No bags. I got a beautiful tie though, which is another Hermes staple. My father threw it in with other clothes that went to Salvation army. Ouch... Can't be angry at my father though.

No, it wasn't a polo shirt. It was some sort of cotton dress shirt.

bags which are sasonal and are being discontinued go on sale to make room for new sstock...bags that carry over each season are never marked down...that's the reason...very simply...and applies to all companies...

I know that on eluxury.com, they have Dior on sale sometimes. Recently, they cut swimsuits, clothing, shoes, watches, and 1 (ugly) handbag half off. :flower:
