Winter coats and jackets

Oh and this one, they are all basically the same style but I love them all! There was a picture of Mary-kate in the same turquoise one with the hood up but I can't find it now so this one will have to do :)

Thanks. I'll check Dolce and Gabanna.

Hey everyone,

Im going to be in Tokyo is december, and will be in Hong Kong during the winter for the next couple years. I was eyeing that JW trench, but im not sure if it will keep me warm enough. :(
If anyone can give me an idea of how cold temperature wise it gets in Tokyo in late dec, that would be great.
So you can get an idea of my style, my favorite designers are slimane, carol christian poell, Junya/Comme H+.
I also very much like masaki matsushima although I have no clue where to get his stuff.

Any replies are very much appreciated.

Hi Raijin! Your trip sounds like a fun one :) Tokyo isn't freezing cold as long as you don't wear one shirt. This year the weather for fall and winter has been extremely weird. There have been very warm days ranging to chilly days where you need a warm coat. I suggest you bring a nice jacket that isn't too thin. No need for any north pole gear. :P and plus you can always layer one some clothing, and I'm sure you will be warm.
Have a great trip :flower:

Winter Coat/Post your favorite

Please post a picture of a Coat you are dreaming about or one that you already have.

I love the white coat Vanessa Williams has on in one of the Christmas commercials but I can't find a picture of it. I'd love to have one like it.

Posting a link is better than posting the actual pictures because it helps the thread load faster for those of us on dial up. Pictures take forever to load. I live where I can't get high speed, also known as the woods.

I love this one....

I love the lamb plaid trench but I can't find a picture :(

i have the BEST winter coat ever
(sorry - no pics)

It's a medium-heavy weight pure wool almost ankle length coat
with fabulous princess cut fit
dark grey
with the most perfect hoody - withstands all things wet - and has a lovely ring of fur... when i'm not wearing the hoody up, it falls around my neck like a lovely collar.

The coat skims the silhouette perfectly.

i got it December 2001 and i wear it 5 months every year - through everything - and it's getting a little threadbare - even so, i do not go one day without someone complimenting me on my coat.

Surprise surprise: it was $300 CAD at Fairweather (they have something similar now, but it's crap compared to the coat i have). To me it's worth about $600 it's that good.

It's made in Russia - and damn!!! Russians know their winter stuff - it's bloody excellent! If i can find a store that sells Russian winter coats, i think i'd get one.

i've looked high and low for another coat like mine, b/c i've worn it so much and abused it so much to me it's looking not so great (but i still get complimented). i'm seriously considering going to a tailor and having them copy the coat exactly for next winter - the lines and hoody and cut and fit and quality are absolute perfection.

btw: apparently Austrian boiled-wool coats are marvellous - excellent for winter and will last for eons b/c the boiled-wool with withstand the elements and wear and tear.

I have a 1950s brown velvet trench coat which rocks my socks! I don't wear it for everyday, because that would be awfully hard on the velvet, and the coat is in like-new condition, but I do wear it from time to time when I am feeling particularly elegant. It feels very luxurious to wear a velvet trench coat. It has a very heavy slipper-satin lining (rust brown)

I've got a little 1950s bruhed-felt beanie with chenille embroidery and a tiny veil that I often wear with this coat. I feel like Mari Sandoz in it (her favorite color was brown!)
