I've never truly enjoyed fragrance advertisements. The concept of using an image with no definite meaning - a girl walking down the beach, two people kissing - to sell perfume boggles my mind, and as a result I never pay much attention to any particular advertisement.
I think an underlying concept is 'allure'. The girl may simply be walking down the beach, but she has a fishing pole and there is the hope and expectation of a catch! Scent is the bait on the hook. There is an aspiration story being told in lots of the images. It's not about looking at something - it's about what is unseen - what is in the air.
no i actuallyy find fragrance ads really interesting i may not like the perfume or the smell but i love the ads eventhough i might not like the perfume in one case!
Fragrance ads are my favourite! They tell much more of a story and are much more free than a clothing ad. Clothing ads have to showcase the clothes while a fragrance ad can a tell a story. They are so much more magical and intriguing than a clothing campaign IMO.
