I'm late to this conversation...but I love the costumes from Marie Antoinette.

So many of my favorites have already been named, but as a movie buff I have plenty to add here.

I'll start with What A Way To Go! starring Shirley MacLaine. It's loaded with over the top costumes by Edith Head. Here's a sample:

Some of my other favorites that are already on this thread:
Sharon Stone in Casino, posts 365, 366, 368 (my favorite)
Kim Novak in Vertigo, posts 331, 332, 333, 334
Tippi Hedren in Marnie, posts 322 & 323
Diana Ross in Mahogany, post 218
Natalie Portman in the Star Wars series posts 152 & 441
Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra, post 321 and Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, post 168
Madonna in Swept Away, post 169

Oooooh, Claudette Colbert's Cleopatra done in 1934. Her costumes were designed by Travis Banton.

This largely depends on my mood. However, because I recently saw Pan's Labyrinth, I would have to list this. I really liked all of the visual aesthetics of the film, including the costumes.

Other films that give me inspiration: Amelie, Chocolat, Laura (classic), anything Sofia Coppola.

Although, I must mention that other visual aspects of a film really influence my opinion of the wardrobe, contributing to an overall tone or mood.

I absolutely love Sun's wardrobe from LOST, especially her flashback clothes.

Rosemary's Baby = favorite.

Ghost World had a good wardrobe too, I think.

I liked Emma Roberts' wardrobe in Nancy Drew. It was just very classy and old-fashioned yet cute.

The Hitchcock heroine's wardrobe in practically all of his films. My favourites are Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, Vertigo, Marnie and The Birds.

Elizabeth Taylor's wardrobe in Suddenly, Last Summer.

Audrey Hepburn's wardrobe in Sabrina, Breakfast at Tiffany's and How to Steal a Million.

Lauren Bacall's wardrobe in The Big Sleep.

Pride & Prejudice
Factory Girl
