Pointie, I have the copper bronze. It's lovely! Go for it. The silver Muse bag at the Bergdorf site looks cheap and tacky.

The metallic silver/pewter is neither cheap nor tacky. I own this bag and constantly get compliments on it. I'm not a big fan of metallics, but this is by far one of the classiest I have ever seen. I think it's a unfair to speak so harshly of a bag when you have never seen it in person.

BTW, the bag that you spoke so glowingly about a few days ago (which you mistook for a black bag with silver hardware) was in fact the metallic silver/pewter Muse.

personally, i think the anthracite is a beautiful color and far from anything cheap or tacky. i actually prefer it over the bronze.

Mundo- thanks for the key affirmance - I saw the skeleton key and totally agree that it is a nice change in the lock, still wish it came with more than one key...

GG - this is a bit delayed but congrats on getting to meet Stella!...decide on what to wear yet? You'll have to let us know...I guess just avoid animal products, right?!

Pretty sure that muse in the photo is the tan...don't think that there is a plan for black with silver hardware as of yet...though you never know in the future

I wonder if the leather is strong and stiff or just soft.
How thick is the leather?
Does it standup without stuffing in it?

I would get an ivore oversized, but there are not stores around here, so I should buy it online in someway!

yes that is the tan. I am not aware of them changing the hardware to silver for the plain leathers...I think its staying the way it is...and silver for the metallics only.

I took my large black Muse on a trip and it worked out great. Everything fit and it slid nicely under the seat in front of me on the plane. I'm so happy with it!

^ The red isn't out yet in the US as far as I know. There is also a dark silver color, bronze, and tan.

the leather is strong and thick, but not stiff. it stands up on its own with a slight slouch... like its saying, "i know, i'm strong and i don't need to flex my muscles". it is very durable. i can't say enough about the muse. i love mine!

Muse questions....

Hi fellow Muse lovers-

This is my first post, and I wanted to do it here because I just got the medium bronze Muse and I absolutely it!!! The color is to die for, and I also love the color of the hardware, which a YSL SA described as a lighter gold, a "champagne gold."

I had a few questions, and was hoping all the Muse experts could help.

- What are the metallic bags made of? I know the regular colors are buffalo, but when I took a quick look at the tag for the bronze bag, I noticed it said, "chevre." Isn't that goat? Is it more delicate than buffalo?

- Did you do anything to protect the bag when you first got it? Such as spray Shining Monkey, Scotch Guard, etc? Can this help prevent the metallic from rubbing/wearing off?

- The lock seems to pull on the leather, making that top portion droop a bit. Are you worried that the weight of the lock will eventually change the shape of the bag? Am I being too anal ?

Sorry about all the questions. I'm just excited about my new bag. Thanks in advance for all your help!!!

Congrats Had! Chevre is definitely goat so your bag is made of kidskin leather. That's all I can say at the moment as I don't have answers to your other questions. I am looking into getting a Muse myself so I am almost on the Muse band wagon.

Btw, I've never heard of Shining Monkey before. What a funny name!
