Hello! I'm new here and have a question. I ordered and received the Oversize Muse in Chocolate from Neiman Marcus. Does the leather on this bag/the shape of this bag "relax" with use? I'm feeling like the bag is too rigid for me and I hope that it "mushes up" the more I carry it. Any help? It is such a beautiful bag but just feels too structured to me. Thank you!!!

It definitely relaxes! Take a stroll through this thread and look at all the celebrity pictures, you can tell how mushed up the muse can get. Like guessgirl and I said before though, it always seems capable of taking back its' original form, it never gets permanently bent in weird shapes. Also, this will sound obvious but the extent to which my muse slouches is directly related to how much is in it. When it's not very full, it becomes quite slouchy.

And also, like other people have mentioned, this is definitely one of those bags that will grow on you as you wear it. It took me about a month to take it out for the first time after buying it, and now I've been using it for almost a week straight. I was using my gucci horsebit hobo yesterday and lamenting how hard it is find things in it. The shape of the oversized muse gives you the best of both worlds, a huge bag that you can actually find, and see things in quickly.

I'm getting a real muse fix today!

Thank you so much for your replies. I keep looking at it on my dresser, wondering if it's just too darn big for me (I'm 5'2"). Hubby and I have a trip to Hilton Head coming up and am quite excited to carry it as travel tote but am so worried it is gigantic for every day use. Maybe I should just give it a shot and see how it feels. Mundo - is that how you felt at first too? I keep thinking that it's too much money to spend on a bag I won't carry a lot. I'll have to see if it grows on me too. Thanks, again.

Oh - I'm a little technically challenged - but I'll do my best to try and get a picture up. Could be tricky. I'll have to ask DH for help and then he'll start asking questions I may not want to answer!!! :o

^^take a photo of you with the bag on your shoulder (in mirror) that way we can tell you how it looks on your frame! :)
p.s. Did you have NM embosse your bag with your initials?

I did not have my initials embossed for two reasons: 1) not sure if I would want to return it or not, and 2) wanted to have the bag in time for a trip. I do love the look of the initials though.

I'll do my best to get the picture up. I'll take one over my shoulder and one on the arm.

The bronze one is pretty.

Thanks also for the mention of the guy with the square one. I think if I go the YSL route over the Gucci or Prada bags I'm looking at............I am going to get the square muse.

Thanks for all the tips and answers to my questions.:flower:

mine is still quite structured but when there's not a lot in it, it gets a little slouchy. i 'bend'(?) the leather sometimes to make it softer

I'd love to see photo's if anyone has their bag embossed by NM just to compare to the YSL boutique's embossing. I have a feeling that the NM embossing is larger and in a differnt font than the YSL - which seems more discreet.

TIA!

ooh...the new rive gauche bag is growing on me...I like how there are the handles and the shoulder strap...but I was so against the muse in the begining...I wonder how much will the oversized rice gauche be :innocent:...btw is that also the man muse? or...

Torrey - have you seen/tried the med. Muse? I am 5'3" and have the med. Muse in ivory. I really love it ALOT. I started out with the large - and I decided the med. was better for me. I know I'm in the minority with this opinion - but I like the proportion of the hardware to the bag better on the med - and I felt overwhelmed by the size of the large (can't even imagine the XL on me) And, the med. is not what I would call a "small" bag. As a matter of fact - my husband commented on how big it is!! (and I thought - "you should see the one I had to begin with!!) Now, I would definitely use the large or XL as a travel bag - but it was just too much as an everyday bag for me. It would be nice if you could try both and then make up your mind.

^ janyoung99 - or anyone else.... what are the dimensions of the MEDIUM size? I found the dims of the XL and L, but can't find the M!

Also, can you wear the straps over your shoulder?

Thanks for the help! :)

no, the "mens muse" is exactly like the bugatti muse with the y-stitching in the front and everything, just in a rectangular shape. the rive gauche bag doesn't have the stitching, and has a rather mcqueen-novak-esque flap and turnlock closure over the zipped closure. i'm not so sure how i feel about the rive gauche right now. i think i need to see it in person to judge the size

I have to agree with you on the size, Janyoung. I was all set on the large tan Muse (I knew the XL was way too big), but when I tried the medium at NM, I knew it was the right size for me. It really isn't a small bag at all. I can't even imagine how big the XL would be on me. LOL.

Ahh I see...the mens muse looks funny...it's a little too briefcasy, I never understood the point of the little lock the muse...can it actually be used ot is it just for decoration? I have seen the bag in person before but where is the lock supposed to lock? The zipper on the side?:flower:

foxie, i agree the men's muse looks like it should be used by an accountant for the office... very business-like.

on the muse, the lock does detach and can be used to lock the two zippers. so, yes, it is fully functional as well as decorative. but i've never used it.

This bag is actually for women though. But, it's unisex. They even sell it upstairs in the menswear. I actually ordered one. They had a brown one. I didn't like it. So, I ordered a black one. It'll be my 4th Muse bag.
