Yves Saint Laurent S/S 09 Paris

Some fantastic pieces that will keep the YSL client happy but overall its not a strong collection at all.

Agreed. Some of the pieces with transparency and visible bras are interesting, but on the whole I am really bored by this. The clothes are boring, the presentation is boring. He has wowed me before, but his stuff is starting to lose a context, a purpose. I don't see how this is a progression of last season, where there were far more interesting ideas.

Pilati is paying a clear homage to Mr.Yves Saint Laurent 1st collection under his name in 1962 ....RIP Yves..
I can recall the mehraja look, & the styling reminds me of Victorie his favorite model at that era...and at that time Yves didn't use bright colors...only black, navy, biege & white, untill he met Loulou de la Falaise when she inspired him with her bohemian chic personality

i feel like i get it. sure last season was my favorite but i feel like i know where his direction was with this and i'm ok with that. i was expecting something completely different. i can see where he progressed from previous seasons. this collection isn't my favorite from pilati but i dig it i guess.

this is no homage , YSL shows had an element of surprise and sex , this is just boring.......

I've never considered myself as Pilati's devoted fan, but I really love this collection, especially the sequined dresses! :woot:

I have tried so hard to like YSL pilati but not 1 collection of his , has the finesse of YSL Tom Ford , its always a mixed bag and those over size blazers are hideous along with the basket heels and the color palette is similar to balenciaga fall 2008 i will say that again ,with the blood reds ,dark green and neutrals.

oh wow! i have questions on that?

how was tom's saint laurent any "finesse" at all? i always thought it was rather sl*tty fleshandnipples-showy girls on the catwalk for most of the shows.

pilati is not known for really doing oversize blazers i'd say... ss08 and fw07 were quite big (specially the former) but i dont think the rest of his work characterizes for that.

and then i dont get how the palette is similar to balenciaga's... who hasnt used neutrals in the last couple of seasons?
and the deep colours like the blood reds you mentioned have been very present everywhere all the way from lanvin to h&m

i don't wanna sound too harsh with all the questions and all, but i have the feeling people try to find "mistakes" all the time in Pilati's work and dont really seem to try to enjoy it, which is too bad.
it's definitely his best season, but he didnt go totally off, no?
i think the house needed a more calm collection after the last 2-3 (beginning with the infamous flower-carpet show, then the strong graphic and structured winter, then the oversized summer 08 and then this winter which was in my opinion his most "edgy" in terms of presentation and proposition of structure)
it's good to see some relaxed easy to wear looks every once in a while

Hmmm...I mean, I like quite a bit of it...but it's kind of boring. I'm getting a little tired of Pilati doing minimalism...he's not the greatest at it.

The only piece I that I REALLY LOVE is the dark red, sheer sequined dress on Ksenia.

It's a very nice collection [not quite what I expected though].

Wow! Fabulous collection.
I love it.
Great pieces, especially the dresses with transparent details, the shining ones and the begginning ones.
After two boring seasons I'm loving Stefano's work again.

I kept expeciting for this collectin to build and get slightly exciting, but it never did.
Very disappointed, especially comapred to last season which was so great. For me, there are literally no stand out pieces, towards the end it gets better...I really wish he built more on the transparent looks along with the sequined ones, as these are the only interesting parts of the whole show...

I love it!
It doesn't have striking effect at the first sight, like last season, but it's SS collection after all, and it's normal to be more casual.

theres some really strong looks in this collection, perfectly executed yet simple, while other looks veer on boring. the shoes are really fantastic though. in general, this is a pretty big jump especially in styling from last season
