Zara 50th Anniversary by Steven Meisel

Yes, very underwhelming, as I expected to be with the number of models cast. I'm not sure that invididual or smaller group pictures alongside the main photo would help though, given that the backdrop is very basic.

I don't want to turn this thread into a casting grumble, so I will say that the highlights for me are seeing Twiggy, Penelope and Paulina through to true Meisel girls like Iselin and Meghan, as well as newer, less expected faces like Precious, Maty and Rosalieke (I think we can say the latter two seem to be some of his favourite newer faces). I'm going to guess Anok will never want to work for Zara, given her previous experience. She's one of the top 5 models in the world and has a good enough rapport with Meisel and Templer to have been given plenty of opportunities to work for the brand in the past 6 - 7 years, so there's clearly still bad feelings (no judgement from me!)

As basic as this all is, I can't help but be lured in by Meisel merch . Bet I'll get a T-Shirt or poster (or both ).

Not sure why people keep on mentioning Giselle, she is on another league. Kate, Giselle and Daria are rarely do group shots.

But they were on the same final cover as Edward Enninful and I don't think they inserted her in post-production.
Her misuse of charity funds took a big hit to her reputation amongst the general public. Maybe Zara thought it would be best to separate her from the other models, especially when she is known to still act like a diva.

^Yes Toni, that's what I'm saying that will happen to Rianne. She won't work (if she doesn't regret) as full time model, but I can see her doing these kind of projects with Meisel or another Bazaar cover styled by Alt.

^Caroline was also part of the 50 models cover for the 2014 anniversary of VI. She appeared in other eds from 2004 (like "Be my baby") as part of the cast. And 2 American Vogue covers, May 2007 and May 2009 (and she doesn't look small or hide on that one, ha). Caroline, Abbey, Anja and Natasha never made VI solo covers with him, but they did other projects with Steven.

  • Naomi may have blocked Linda Evangelista
If Naomi blocked Linda’s account, Linda wouldn’t be able to tag her or see @Naomi appear in the suggestions when typing. That would explain why Naomi's name appears without the tag.
  • Linda may have chosen not to tag Naomi
It’s possible that Linda intentionally left Naomi untagged.

Naomi doesn't follow many supermodels on Instagram (Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen, Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, etc.)

no raquel... i dont get... and Linda e Naomi, well, something happened when they did that doc... my guess, for the years Linda was gone, Naomi was the bee queen, when she came back, they have clashed... ego, on both sides... and a little bit of politician. Just a guess

I'm so tired of the Zara slander. I love their clothes, and a lot of it is better made, and definitely cheaper than the basic crap ya'll love Phoebe Philo for. Clock it.

Having said that, the backstage drama of this campaign is more interesting than anything Meisel shot.

Zara’s brand would be held in much much much higher esteem if they didn’t have actual stores LOL Their web and online illusion is so much more attractive than their retail presence. Although these days, nearly all the bluechip brands can’t even get the illusion right, or just don’t bother— never mind their products. And that’s so much more cheaper than anything coming from Zara.

50 Supers do nothing for me when the production value and creative concept is so low effort— made more obvious that the current crop of bestowed “Supers” just don’t live up the the ones of previous generations. (LMFAO @Amelia given a spot at the table.)

I’d rather see all new faces, shot inventively, creatively, richly: I’ll easily take that Meisel collection’s cast over this one. And I’d take Fabien over Meisel anytime, anyday, anywhere. But I suppose when the actual product is just 90s diffusion line staples copied wholesale from brands like CK/DKNY/D&G, Zara needs that distraction of Supers and namedrop Meisel to get the sheep to spend. And it works going by the love on this thread LMFAO
