50 Book Challenge for 2011

Thanks from me too, Scott .. MMA had actually mentioned that book to me before, I think I should definitely order it now (next to Keith Richard's and John Fahey's books.. I love reading musicians' memoirs).

Man, I'm only halfway through this week's book.. but it's finally getting interesting, now 300 more pages to go and I'm done.

2. Treasure Yourself: Power Thoughts for My Generation by Miranda Kerr
This is little self-help book, Miranda is very keen flowers, power thoughts (about half of book is full of these) positive thinking and how we all are equals.. so it was not actually what expected when I picked this because amazing pink cover. Love the texture of cover, it feels like fabrik. People who usually read library books with very nice plastic cover, anything different feels good. I guess book would work better like a blog or reading parts.

3. I Wish Someone Were Waiting for Me Somewhere by Anna Gavalda
This is one of my favorite books and she is one of my favorite writers. I started to read other her book but needed to reread this again. This is bittersweet collection of short stories, little moments from life. Love this.

i finished my first book The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood and my next one is Ecotopia by Ernest Callenbach. I didn't pick them myself, because I have to read them for a course at uni, but I like utopian literature

I'm such a huge fan of her work. Her writing style is absolutely beautiful. I've been trying to read everything she's written, hopefully the 50 book challenge gets me there!

The Collected Stories of Isaac Bashevis Singer - FINISHED

The short stories were really good, and I like the way he writes, and how simply he deals with such issues as love, life and death.

Wow!!! You're doing great guys! I love reading and 50 books a year sounds like a great challange so count me in!!! I'll definitely do my best. Last night I've started reading Front Row: Anna Wintour by Jerry Oppenheimer and I have to say the book is pretty interesting so far! Keep up the good work!

and will be a good way to keep track of how many books i'm actually getting through

i've always considered myself to be a big "reader" but this will put me to the test and encourage me to read even more i think... which i'm looking forward to...

Over the past few days I've had a chance to read some more books:
Poetics by Aristotle
Tragedy (Oxford Very Short Introduction to) by Adrian Poole
Birth of Tragedy by Friedrich Nietzsche
Nietzsche in 90 Minutes by Paul Strathern
Nietzsche within your grasp by Shelley O'Hara

I'm going to count them in my challenge as two books because
the first two books together equal 300 pages and the last 3 about 350,
so it's like reading two medium sized books, each on a different subject.
I won't write reviews for these; I don't know if anyone's interested in Greek
tragedy or Nietzsche?

...BUT the next book is a big 700 page philosophy book I'm really excited
about. I'm going to spend the rest of January on it and hopefully write a
good review because I think you should read it too!

it's never too late. this 'challenge' lasts all year so as long as you try to read 50 books this year you could even join in summer or whenever you feel like, so welcome!

i've just finished the book "never let me go" by Kazuo Ishiguro in only two days ! so i've completed the Tfs challenge of reading 1 book in 50 years
