77th Academy Awards Thread

Foxie, yes. That Haute Couture show was SOOO influential, look at the redcarpet. Hell at Hechts I saw a couple of mermaid dresses.

Scarlett Johanson, who I also just hate for some reason, she just has this "thing" of constantly annoying the heck out of me. Like how she stood on that balconey, and her left arm kept on jiggling, hah.
lol, I like Scarlett (loved her Roland Mouret dress) - but honestly what was she doing with her arm??

I didn't like the format of having everyone line up for the early awards. Kind of embarassing for the lost nominees and sort of as if they were consciously being pushed to the sidelines
I really didn't like that either, it seemed disrespectful and awkward. I hated how they lined up some of the nominees on stage or presented awards in the audience - I guess it may have been to save time, but it just made it seem as though they were getting 'lesser' awards or something :ninja:

Purple: Ok, HOW WEIRD was Scarlett's arm jiggling thing?? My boyfriend and I were pissing ourselves, it was just so kooky.

Glad someone else noticed. :P

-Charlize Theron's dress is Rochas Couture I believe. If its Dior, then its just a rip off that gown...

since when did rochas start doing couture? they didn't have a presentation at the recent couture week...is it a vintage rochas you're thinking of?

Gwyneth's dress reminds me of JLo's 2002 Oscar dress.

It was really odd, like you could see that the other arm, was all ready- just in tune with what she was saying... but that right one, she didn't seem to have a use for it, so just- bounce along... It actually really reminded of an acting course I took, I used to do something along those lines, you get so tense everywhere else, and forget about some other body part. My teacher ended up giving me a chair to hold onto, so my arms would stay still. Then again though, I'm only a lousy university student, she's this major actress, you'd think she'd have a touch more control over her body's movements. Another reason for me finding her very, very fake. At least the other actors have themselves pulled together enough that their movements seem half natural.

The show itself was ok - even though most of the people and films that I hoped would win didn't :ninja: I'm esctatic that "The Sea Inside" and "Eternal Sunshine" were recognized, but I wish "Hotel Rwanda" had won something  (most notably Don Cheadle for best actor, even though Jamie Fox was wonderful as Ray Charles)

Loved what Natalie, Kate, Gwyneth, Scarlett, Emmy (or alternatively Sandra Oh) and Vanessa Paradis were wearing ^_^ Cate, Zhang Ziyi and Sophie Okonedo looked stunning as well :woot: Don Cheadle, Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman are just too cool for words B) Bits of what Chris Rock did were funny, but I'm biased because I like him

I don't mind Hilary Swank, but I think Annette Benning and Imelda Staunton  were more deserving of the Best Actress Award. Just my opinion :flower:

/edit/: And Scarlett's arm jiggling was very odd - I thought I was imagining it at first

I don't care what anyone says, but best actor should have went to Don Cheadle. I can't believe it takes someone to die before you can win an Oscar.

I am in complete agreement with you, he should have won - he was SO brilliant :flower: :flower:

Cate looked amazing in Valentino

Nathalie Portman also looked gorgeous, I love the Lanvin dress.
Vanessa Paradis Looked great in Chanel.
I liked Scarlette in Rouland Moret, she also wore him to the Globes, Magie,Kirstin and Zoey.
Gisel looked good, in Dior Couture.

seems every one was wearing mermaid dresses and diamon drop earings.

Zooey looks so cool, thanks for the picture! I hate how they always focus on majorly famous actresses, and miss all of the better, but lesser seen ones.
