I thought everybody managed to look half decent last night.

My picks :

-Vanessa Paradis : she's the ultimate, she never gets it wrong. Her makeup was unbelievable!

- Hilary Swank : Her dress was very classic, the cut suited her face. Total standout.

- Gisele Bundchen: Totally lovely, though would have been better with different hair. Her hair looked a bit too "catalog model" to me.

- Cate Blanchett : She IS hollywood glamour herself.

The bad ones:

- Kate Winslet : Sorry, but her choices are always terribly boring.

- Rene Zellwegger: Her boobs looked rather weird and the dress wasn't flattering at all.

- Emmy Rossum : So predictable.

- Charlize Theron : The dress was OK, but the color was way too prom-ish.

- Scarlett Johansson : Cute hair, but looked pretty weird.

- Natalie Portman : Technically cute dress, but doesn't suit her petite frame.

- Kirsten Dunst : Cute but looked like she was heading to her prom.

- Catalina : Terrible everything.

- Laura Linney : The J Mendel gown looked awfully cheap so did her hair and makeup.

Where was Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman, Cameron Diaz, Jenifer Lopez, Kate Hudson etc

I was really looking forward to seeing what was happening with the Pitts and wanted to see what all the others were wearing!!!

Other than the Charlize dress which I quite liked -I completely agree with your choices and comments

i dug gisele's and vanessa's look...but then again, they are models.

if you re talking about Vanessa Paradis she s not a model, she s a very known singer in France. Started at the age of 14 and been singing ever since, every now and then she does movies too. And about ten years ago was chosen to be Chanel n 5 face, and last season she did chanel add again but that s about it, she s never been a model she s 5'4 how can she be a model !!!!

-Is it just me or does Salma Hayek always look the same??
-I love Gisele but that look she went for was all wrong.
-Hillary Swank though should get Best Dressed award she looked flawless:heart:
-Gwyneth, wearing beige was wrong especially with the blond hair
-Renee s one of my favourite's but she couldn t even walk in that dress and the hair s just too dark and SHE IS becoming chinese looking by the day

I know it's the Oscars and all, but I think most of them were playing it a little too safe. Many obvious choices. And this is coming from someone with a pretty conservative taste.

Also, there were no outrages outfits. I kind of missed the Bjork factor. If nothing else just to give us something to discuss. :D

I can't believe they let Beyonce (with her accent of a Texas twit) sing in french.

What were they thinking?

You re so right, I speak french and I know that song yet I couldn t understand a word. Very bad decision to have let her sing it. Shame Shame Shame:sick:

regarding christina aguilera:

as a general rule, one's hair should never be lighter than one's skin,
especially when both are ridiculously unnatural.

she's absolutely orange!

I'm glad that Jamie Foxx, Hilary Swank, Morgan Freeman, Clint Eastwood and "Million Dollar Baby" got the Oscars. And I was so thrilled to see Gisele with Leo! :buzz:

My favorites of the evening were: Vanessa  Paradis (as per usual); Scarlett (minus the arm twitching - I even liked her hair); I thought Gisele was beautiful (I like that bohemian/empire waisted look and i love her face anyway); Kirsten Dunst (I would wear something like that)...and I was SO HAPPY to see Zooey :flower: was there..aw, that just made my day (how sad is that? :innocent: ). And...oh, I liked Natalie Portman, but she never does wrong in my eyes...even if it is so.

I also think I read on this thread...someone said Sideways was British....but I'm pretty sure it was an American film, set in California's wine region. I don't think any of the actor's were British anyway...I could be wrong.
