not a single outrageous dud this year
My favourites of the night: Charlize, Emmy, Maggie, Gwyneth, Kate
I like, but not my top favourites: Cate, Kirsten (I like that dress on her - it's a great dress for her body shape), Natalie (there are better Lanvin dresses, but that would be something that natalie would wear...)
Wish they'd find something new to wear: Renee Zellweger (stop wearing strapless and red, please)

Hilary Swank was absolutely beautiful. I don't know when covering up became bad, but she worked it. There was enough back showing to make up for the front.
Kirsten looked very nice to me. It's a different look that was flattering for her.
I don't know where in the world that blue that Kate Winslet wore came from, but it was a great change from the regular colors you see on the red carpet. She looked very pretty.

It's not BAD, it's just that the style of the front of her dress wasn't great. It was so far up her neck that it looked too...stiff, like it was strangling her. There should have been a sort of boatneck to that dress - it would've put emphasis on all the right places instead of looking like she would begin to gasp and choke at any second. Other than that, I LOVED the back of her dress. I'm a big fan of low-backed items, so that fit my love for those styles to a T.
I don't like Cate Blanchett's dress either. There is nothing flattering about it.
Hilary's dress isn't that bad...she looks classy...and, yes, the back was gorgeous. It looks prettier in one photo I posted at the top of this thread...it is a sapphire blue, but on TV it looked navy blue, and it did look like it was indeed strangling her. Perhaps she could have worn her hair down or in a partial updo to kind of soften up her look a bit. The hair pulled back with the dress was to severe of a look.
I love love love Johnny Depp...but why didn't he shave? And I am not liking his suit at all.
