i am convinced that they are giving away fur........

PARIS, February 27, 2006 – A.F. Vandevorst's Filip Arickx and An Vandevorst said they had "a seduction" in mind while designing their fall line—that of the artist Joseph Beuys by an imaginary paramour. The concept played to what is usually one of the duo's strengths: lingerie. At one point, four models performed a sort of striptease, untying softly tailored white shirts to reveal retro underpinnings, and for good measure, the designers featured a disembodied voice chanting "silence is sexy" on the soundtrack. The overall effect though was curiously unerotic—a state of affairs that wasn't helped by the fact that the show was staged in Paris' cavernous and altogether unromantic Palais Omnisport.

The collection worked better when the Belgian duo abandoned the carnal pursuits for the kind of smart sportswear that would fly at the office or on a first date—think stiff trenches, slouchy cardigans, and fur gilets. The latter came in many variations and lengths; the chicest were cinched at the waist, just grazing the hips. A pair of dresses, one in a cream kimono style and another in pleated black jersey, were covered up, but didn't lack for come-hither appeal. And speaking of sexy, the few over-the-knee leather boots A.F. Vandevorst showed had the collection's menagerie of clunky rabbit-fur booties looking like children's winterwear in comparison.

Review from style.com

Ok, we seem to have to accept that fur is very much material of the season but actually, the use of it here is actually to my liking. There seems to be a amalgamation of influences going on here but all streamlined to a stringent style (Saxon/Celtic (the fur gilets and wraps) Japanese (the kimonos)). It pulls together quite nicely IMO. I'm not so keen on the white shirts and lingerie - not much thought put into it.

eww...does that fur coat have *heads* or are those her hands?!? either way, it sure looks like heads....:ninja:

They've been in a bit of a rut for a few seasons. This is the worst I've seen from them in a long while.

they use to be sooo good...not to good anymore.a bit too commercialized now

I like this a lot without the fur and the undies (I mean I like the undies, just not on the catwalk ). Their knitwear is always amazing.

Not a very convincing colletion... but i do see some excellent looks scattered around..

.. that pin-striped jacket with the matching pants, and skirt is very lovey... also the deep cowl-neck sweater with the pants is amazing..

not very impressed by this collection.. (mainly because - like a lot of you here - hate the use of fur on the runway..)

i love all the fur.. it just looks a bit un-finished, no?

does anyone happen to have detail photos of the make-up/eyes..it looks like they have on extended lashes of some sort? interesting..

one of the reasons i was looking forward to the pictures from the paris shows. lovely.

now it's time to head to the "what would you wear today" thread...

This is a cool collection! I love the military look that they always have. I especially love the lace pieces!

Why is every collection so bland to me these days? Anyway, I like the fact that the first white ones look like paper...

Wow, what a joyless statement :o Why do you think this is bland?

I guess it's because so many collections look like that that it becomes bland even though it's not your typical t-shirt and jeans. It's good, but I've seen it before.

Umm, definitely not as good as last season :? I only like a few pieces, and that suit-sewn-onto-the-front-of-the-dress, but it's nothing avant-garde or new. By the way, where can you get this label from within the UK? I like this jacket a lot...

OK I take that back. I no longer like the jacket but still as a point of interest, is the label available in the UK?

It's not bad, it's just nothing new and nothing to go wild for.
