YASMEEN GHAURI & HELENA BARQUILLA

All season long I have been seeing on different sites announcements of former legendary super models coming back into circulation. Kristen McNenamy at DNA , Rachel Williams at ELITE, ... and every morning I wake up I check out the womens shows on VOGUE.CO.UK and STYLE.COM to see which girls are working for which designers. I have to say when I clicked on the AQUASCUTUM'S SHOW and saw the casting of Yasmin LeBon, Susie Bick , Lorraine Pascale and Jeny Howorth ( THE AGYNESS OF THE 80'S I bugged the f** k out. These amazing SUPER models walking with the new class of superGIRLS like Jordan Dunn, Amanda Laine and Kinga ..and it makes me miss the SUPERS.

Last season D Squared cast Nadege as one of 3 "Charlie's Angels'" and it made me long for the cat walk super star that was her bestie, YASMEEN GHAURI. No print fashion model, including NAOMI CAMPBELL could compare to YASMEEN'S fierce rule of the runway. Kids, these girls were THE girls that replaced runway models on the runway..Bryjna, Dianne Dewitt, Dalma, Sonia Cole etc. were hip shashaying goddesses who were rarely photgraphed for advertising or editorial .It was the Yasmeen's who shot Vogue one day and walked VERSACE/YSL/FERRE/LACROIX the next ..long before that was the standard it is now. Yasmeen along with Nadege, Veronica Webb, Emma Sjoberg,Gurmit, etc rose up from showgirls to print girls to all around "supers"... not as much in the spotlight of the LINDA/NAOMI/CHRISTY machine..and dominated VOGUE/ELLE/BAZAAR FOR NEARLY 10 YRS (1987-1996).

I miss the days when you would go and see a show and witness a true superstar own the room for those 15 seconds. I remember going to Anna Sui at Industria the first time Tyra Banks did NY fashion week and people went crazy , clapping for Tyra and booing for Naomi...straight out of PAGE SIX .
That cast included Yasmeen, Carla Bruni, Claudia Mason, Nadege, Susan Holmes and of course LINDA/CHRISTY.NAOMI. It was a time when there were 20 girls doing everything and they were ( still are) ROCK STARS. Id love to see a group of girls reinvent the sameness that has been 1999 to 2009 and rock our worlds again. They are out there, I know it.

James Scully said to me earlier this month when the subject of Yasmeen Ghauri came up and said "they dont make 'em like that anymore..and my friend the sweetheart Ali at Women said " Check out Anne V and Cameron Russell!" and i get it, they are GORGEOUS, no doubt..but i want to see these b*tches rock the runway. hips swaying left to right , hands on hips Montana theatrics..Helena Barquilla runway modeling is necessary this very second.

Can I get an amen?

Peace

P.S...Natasha POLY comes really close...now we need 19 more!
