While I agree part of the problem is this generation's crop of models isn't that great, I also think it has something to do with who owns the magazines now. Haven't I heard that big corporations that also finance movies own the publications, too? There has to be some reason, because I find the celebrities (Aniston, Hiltons, Lohans, etc) as banal as the models.

Yes i would sadly have to agree. Most models nowadays are a little blah. There are only a few new ones (like Gemma and Daria) that looks are different and very appealing. I still think that models should be back on the covers, regardless. (on another note, it is REGARDLESS not IRREGARLESS; IRREGARDLESS is, in fact, not a word. Just so ya know! )

C'mon , they two are the ugliest of all of them, there are like 10 aliens very similar to Gemma, I don't know why you say that she's different.

i love this thread.
i used to save up to buy vogue magazines in the late 80s and early 90s. and there was always some supermodel/glamazon on the covers. nowadays its always either jennifer aniston or sienna miller (!) no offense to their fans, but i jus miss the supermodel era..

i miss tatjana patitz. carla bruni, karen mulder, cindy c, linda e, christy turlington, elaine irwin, and naomi. i'm also alittle sad that their reign has been overtaken by the alien/androgynous models. i can hardly identify with them..

yes, and i also agree with many of the posters here who have pointed out that today's models are too skinny. i like karen elson and kristen's figures.

actually..i think the reason why we don't have models on the covers of magazinesw these days...is because the 'little girls' of today can't sell a magazine the way these girls could...the only one that can ..is gisele...and that's because she is more 'womanly'...

linda evangelista is the #1 fashion beauty. her face is pure fashion.
it's incredible to me now, when i think of how easy it was to get swept up in the 'kate is the best' attitude that everyone was pushing, but she doesn't hold a candle to rachel williams.

how about carla bruni?
she's got the most symmetrical facial features.
and karen mulder has a classically beautiful face. i read somewhere that many women who sought plastic surgery to fix their noses, would ask for karen's nose. she has a v aristocratic, aquiline nose.

me too videofashion was such a great show non stop catwalk footage of the best shows!! thats where i first saw yasmeen not in pictures but on the runway and her walk/presence has a major impact the viewer, pictures are nothing compared to how she is in real life then they had a supermodel special and interviewed her backstage, it was so cool that they interviewed all the top supermodels between 1990-1992 the footage from videofashion and interview is at yasmeen-ghauri.com, love carla and karen both superior and classy looking beauties
