Adriana Lima

Numero Tokyo preview. These are horrible, but it's what I could get on my phone:

I haven't watched that show, but I'm tuning in just for her! Hope she gets some actual screen time, not just the 30 second cameos that she's done for the other shows.

I watch the show too and so far they've had some cameos already and they've been pretty good with the screen time.

I think her cameo will probably consist of the agency doing PR for VS/VSFS and throwing ideas at Dri and then filming the said PR, that's what they've done so far

So many people pin Adriana as just a VS/sexy model, but the girl can truly MODEL. This Numero ed is miles better than so many other HF eds from top models. Adriana is truly timeless.

I actually wish magazines would switch it up when working with her and instead of sexy do something crazy and different that yeah, maybe the majority of her fans wouldn't feel or wouldn't know what to make of it, but she could work it. I am hoping for a Vogue Italia cover in her future. Make it happen, The Society! This Numero ed was the last thing we knew of her shooting. I hope it didn't stop there and we have more surprises.

I blame the styling. I think she looks great and the composition of those shots is amazing. I just wish it would've been more grunge given the setting, although I guess they were doing that whole "let's act like we're in the complete opposite of our immediate surroundings" thing. My dream is to see her and Ale completely re-done for a couture spread in Vogue Paris/Italia. They clearly have the clout in the business, but to be honest I think both of them prefer to stay at home with their kids and let Candice take their covers.

Not for nothing, but Adriana and Ale are on two different levels. Even though it might never happen, I think Adriana has a better chance of being on VI or VP. She has been getting at least one big campaign a season and has some pretty big fashion names that seems to support her and consistently (Miuccia, Riccardo, Carine). I haven't been following Ale recently and I don't know what she's up to, but there was a point a couple of years ago I think after Adriana got Givenchy and started the whole VS girls back to HF revolution that I thought she would keep up with, but I don't know what happened there. I see her taking jobs that she should've just passed up at this point in her career. Like pads, really? And I think Candice's agency realized that VS isn't making her happen the way they hoped (it doesn't happen anymore), so naturally they are going to push her another way.

I don't want to turn this into an Ale vs. Adriana discussion because I think they have distinct careers and have both achieved a ton given that they are the ONLY brazilian girls working post-2000s Gisele wave and I think that is a huge accomplishment.

That being said, Carine's support of Adriana that you claim is dubious at best. Yes, Carine said she likes her as a model, but during Carine's reign as EIC of Vogue Paris she gave Adriana only 1 editorial. And all I can recall recently of them working together is the Harper's Bazaar Romeo and Juliet editorial and the VMan calendar. Ale had an editorial in CR and walked in the Amfar Gala's Gold show.

Riccardo has had Adriana walk twice, and has given her 1 campaign. Equivalent for Ale with Dolce and Gabbana. Prada has definitely supported Adriana and that is awesome, because she has killed those Miu Miu campaigns. Katie Grand was obsessed with Ale, and although she's not the world's most important editor, it means somethings but they haven't worked together in about a year.

What I'm trying to get at is there are people who support both girls, but obviously that's not enough for either of them. If I'm being honest, I do think Adriana would get a VI/VP cover before Ale, but the truth is that both of them should be getting more work than they currently do. They should both have more than 6/7 Vogue covers, because they're both stunning models who can sell.

And with regards to pads, yes I don't think it makes the most sense. But the market is Latin America and they paid her millions so at the end of the day she got a huge paycheck.

I think the reality is that Ale and Adriana are in their early 30s with 2 kids, and Candice is like 25 and willing to hustle a lot harder. Right place right time says a lot. Again, I don't want to turn this into an argument but just my two cents.

I am sorry but Adriana and Alessandra are not in the same level. They were maybe even five years ago, but not anymore.

Alessandra will take any job that gives money, no matter how tacky it is. She lost what little respect of her as a model I had after Always pads, I live in Latin America and you have no idea of the new level of low she hit with that. Like Arkitech for Almacenes Exito it's bad, but Always was just like NO.

Adriana on the other hand, is more selective with her works. She works less than Alessandra but whenever she works it is something big, I think the most random thing we have seen her do in recent years was Mavi Jeans and even that was quite big and a global campaign. Adriana chooses quality over quantity, unlike Alessandra who has proved she'll do whatever will give her money, which is good for her bank account but definitely not for her career, she is turning into the Kardashian of the modeling world. Keep in mind I used to be a huge Alessandra fan back in the day, she was right on top for me with Adriana.

If Adriana didn't have her VS contracts and was willing to work more I'm sure she would be doing a lot of different things, sadly making it big in the HF world is obviously not Adriana's #1 priority. She also has the worst timing ever, I bet that now that she's working so much she'll go ahead and get knocked up again as she did in 2009 & 2012

And I love the Número editorial by the way, the cover wasn't the best choice and indeed a little too Jenny from the Block but the editorial I love.
