Alessandra Facchinetti out at Valentino *Update* new Creative Director at Tod's

She better be doing something soon. I don't care what it is though.
I hope she makes her own label. :woot:

I think working with Tom brings the best out of her in terms of design. She could not stick in Gucci or Valentino.

It seems like Tom just doesn't want to be bothered with that much hands-on 'designing' anymore: he likes the business/executive/image coordinator/style/brand identity side of things. He seems to enjoy working on the bigger picture - establishing the brand and all the PR that comes with it.

Maybe he needed someone he can depend on, and I am happy that there is no bad blood between the two, since Alessandra WAS the first and immediate person who became the Gucci replacement after Tom's departure. It was not Frida. I have a suspicion that maybe it was even Tom who recommended her for the Valentino position. I have no proof for this claim, but Tom is very close with Garavani himself. Maybe he said some nice things about her, since no one expected her to become the new Valentino artistic director.

It is known that Tom is a very loyal person in the industry, and a loyal friend. I am sure he tries hard to take care of Alessandra. She had attended the opening of his Milan store, photographed right next to him many times.

So it is obvious that they are still friends and very close to each other.

^ i didn't know any of that, but i really really hope so! :flower:

I feel Alessandra's sleek, sexy, but very feminine design suits Tom Ford's aesthetic of his ideal woman, and they would be very compatible.

Really, I'm 100% supportive of Alessandra anywhere- so long as i can see her designs. I always thought she does a great job, adapting to any house. It's always good to see women in fashion designing in a way that is sympathetic to women- something i see Alessandra as inherently doing, as part of her vision/outlook.

*Bump*

Sooo... does anyone know what ended up happening with alessandra?

Would love to know what's happened with her..

Another bump.
I don't care how many years it's been - I'm still bitter and I still want to see more of her work, has there been any news?

I saw her in Paris at the industries' largest fabrics tradeshow, looking all sleek and sexy in a black tux, pinstriped shirt with french cuffs, fedora and pointy toe patent heels... so yes, I assume she's up to something...!

Yes, i know, but that isn't a big brand, if Galliano leaves Dior, he deserves be there.

I love her work so much ! So curious what she is up to also. I think she would make a great menswear designer too for some reason.

I heard a rumour at some stage saying that she was being hired at Bottega Veneta, but I'm not sure if it's too reliable.

Sounds delicious to me! I love Alessandra, she deserves to be working somewhere.

i always loved her work so much, hopefully she's be hired somewhere soon again

I heard a rumour at some stage saying that she was being hired at Bottega Veneta, but I'm not sure if it's too reliable.

I like that rumor now that I think about it ... from my perspective Bottega has been dragging for some seasons now. I think all of fashion could use a little Alessandra-style injection of femininity right now ... and I say that as someone who hates that word :innocent:

I think Bottega is fine with Tomas Maier I don't see why they should replace him

Bottega Veneta would definitely give Alessandra a better scope to carry out her vision. I felt she was too restricted at her time in Valentino.
