Sarah Burton, talented designer that since a few years ago took control of the brand orphaned of Lee McQueen, presented last February the womenswear collection for the coming Autumn/Winter season in a very private form.

Handmade dresses, that are perfect in every detail, full of embroideries, beads and golden baguettes. Unique dresses, totally couture, that are the result of the mastery of craftsmen that took inspiration from the priest’s cassocks during the Elizabethan era. From these 20 looks the main collection has been conceived, that will be on sale in the shops, while the "couture" collection will only be on demand, and will probably make the new ladies of the Bric countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) happy.

In the ready-to-wear collection, the colors, materials (such as velvet) and the inspiration are kept, while the silhouette is changed, by becoming more daywear, and so did the price.

This is too much on the costume-ish side for me. This is what happens to designers when they run out of ideas. They use the same silhouettes, but they just embellish them more. I'm bored by her.

I love Sarah, but her pre-collections and seasonal retail collections are starting to just bleed into each other. It's all the same silhouettes, colors, and even fabrics, thinly embellished with a different theme.

^Totally agree with you guys! It looks beautiful, but nothing new.

I feel like they're costumes for a new production of the Salem Witch Trials

The shoes are hideous.

is it strange that i haven't looked at a mqQueen collection since Lee died?...
:innocent:...

well—
i am wonderfully surprised by this...
i find it extremely wearable and desirable...

damn!...
i'd love to look like that!!!...
it's very 'sasha fierce'...

...

^^me too :p

I don't see the costume aspect at all! I don't know what you guys are talking about...

I'm kind of obsessed with this.

I think the Elizabethan details are interesting and pared back enough that this collection is actually really wearable and really beautiful.

right on...

i had seen this valentino dress/cape and wished for an entire collection like this...
i'd say this was pretty much the answer to my wish...

:p...

yay!
thank you sarah burton...

as for the skirt-
it's a classic piece that every woman should have in her closet...
and quite flattering on most due to the button placement...

SOLD!!!...
:judge:

brilliant stuff...

The white blouse in the third row, second shot, of the first set is so gorgeous!!! And I actually love the mid-calf pencil skirts. They look awesome here, as do the skinny trousers. And those sleeves! What's so bad about this?

This is beautiful! I know it's a similar in some ways to her previous collections, but I think it's so good.

I see the costume-y side of it, not the whole collection, but a large chunk of it. Those Elizabethan collars for example, way too literal. And that last dress really drives the point home.

there is just no colour......god knows how morbid the stores will look....

I think this is quite nice, I did not find it costumey at all. Nods to the the Tudor era, but done in a very modern way. It is not easy for anyone to be in her shoes, so kudos to her!

Yeah, this is very nice.

Gloriously feminine silhouettes with the no-nonsense, strict classic tailoring is what Sarah excels at. I'd much prefer the McQueen label be this mature, subtle refinery than the gaudy bedazzled pile of beads and feathers that they're hoping to pass as profound and innovative season after season since McQueen's passing.
