And Wang starts ...

I'm 50/50 with this collection. I'm so done with his use of whites, blacks, and grays. He's been doing it for numerous seasons and it's getting a bit unbearable at this point. I did, however, love the shapes of the outerwear pieces. There were some fantastic trousers that had a skirt-like piece attached to them. I'll definitely be coveting those next F/W season.

I have to say this was a pretty good collection from him, I'm really going to try my best on not throwing the designer references (although Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2009 came into mind with those elbow length fur gloves) But I'm really in love with everything in the collection, the second half of the show was my favorite.

The clothes aren't that flattering, are a little bit boxy, but this was a beautiful and fresh collection! The touch he did on the shoes were spectacular!
I love seeing how Alexander is growing every single season always experimenting and keeping things cool and modern, with a vision always modern and unique!

I honestly am so confused right now, the most underwhelming collection. As much as I love fur Wang has proven to me you can overuse fur in such a weird way, there was no need for the 'gloves' on the first so many looks they were so distracting. (May I also add Rick Owens hoods anyone?) The backless wool/fur wedges also confused me majorly and the models proved how impractical there where when you could see them struggling to walk making sure their foot stayed in the shoe. Flat shoes on the runway were next, my biggest pet peeve is flat shoes on a runway. The models walks seem to become, I dont know, slightly lazy and their posture isn't as strong as it would have been wearing heels. The red ponytails threw me off, I understand it with the hooded looks as you can't see the models hair colour but when you can see their head on full show, the mismatch coloured ponytail just looked odd. The only thing I liked about this collection was the asymmetrical heels in the final few looks and the leather cut out t-shirt (the third photograph in #2) apart from that, it was a big confused yawn and i'm now on edge to see what Wang will create for Balenciaga.

The big heavy coats looked uncomfortable to walk in, and not in love with the fabrics on the coats , quite liked the grey 90s little dress / es

Smashing! The beggining was amazing and it went on and one. I actualy loved the use of fur, it was very interesting and the cut of the jackets was terrific. Alexander Wang has now passed by far Marc Jacobs as the most exiting show of NYFW.

for me it's a letdown. It was unflattering, and sometimes too boxy. I felt like a la camouflage pecies were very inspired by Balenciaga.

He still doesn't demonstrate the ability for Balenciaga. I fear of what's to come in Paris...

Exquisite. I love the shapes. Love them. They are a bit reminiscent of Balenciaga, indeed, which makes me curious for his collection at the house. Beautiful coat on Kasia.

Hey this isn't half bad....but the real show this season is at Balenciaga.

I like the drop-waisted coats and the rounded shoulder silhouettes.

I like some of the structured satins and I thought the collection showed a creative use of burnout.

However, to my eyes, not all of the pleating was flattering, and I don't like the plushy skirts and pants, nor the shoes.

The collection as a whole is not outstanding, but nor is it bad; overall, I'd say it's a good collection.

Message of this collection: "Now imagine what I can do with the Balenciaga atelier expertise... Easy one but well received and well done."

Overall I'm less enthusiastic than I was for his amazing spring collection. But it is pretty good. I’m not a fan of the first looks though. I was a bit perplexed at the beginning because it didn't feel like him. I find it a bit clumsy. I'm not convinced by those long gloves neither by the socks-covered shoes nor by the awful bags. And the show could've been better edited.
But when it works, it works well, and I mean really well. The final looks with the pants, the volume tops and the cut-outs screamed Balenciaga but he did them perfectly with his own vocabulary. The fabric, the allure... it was less sci-fi (like Nicolas) but more urban, comfy and approachable but also tomboyish. Again you find his key inspirations like the US football/jersey references with those strong shoulders and protective volumes as well the superb skin revealing with those sexy open backs.
I also love his take on the silhouette this season: really playing with the proportions, dropping the waist, making the silhouette more fluid but also quite rigid at the same time through the boxiness and heaviness of the outerwear. Very interesting.

Yet what really please me this time is his more refined and dare I say elegant outfits. There's definitely a certain attempt at presenting some serious eveningwear. Still in a Wang way of course: that is downtown and comfortable enough to dance all-night but elegant enough to go to serious parties. I'm talking those beautiful pants, the pants+skirts (I'll never be thankful enough to Raf Simons for bring the pants back in eveningwear and affirming skirt-pants combo), the beautiful low waist tops too. It was serious eveningwear and it was very beautiful. I wouldn't mind seeing it on a red carpet at all, quit e the opposite actually. I also love some of the daywear looks. There is this black or navy skirt with some kind of mosaic embroideries that is absolutely amazing. The grey sweater on Megan Collison is also TDF. And speaking of to die for, the black pumps are pure Wang shoegasm. Last but not least the outerwear was really good. It actually helped me find the direction of the collection, that is this kind of neo-cave woman like an ubber stylish Nemo or natural disaster survivor.
