Alice Burdeu

That would be so great! :woot::woot: I really hope this is true.

Well, who knows, but she has not completely quit modelling...especially not a long time ago. There are HUGE photos of her for the current Myer Summer campaign all over the department store windows at the moment.

There's really no point in sugar-coating it. One season is a long time to be gone from doing runway, campaigns, editorials, etc. and I'm not talking about modelling locally in Australia (and aside from her work for Myer, I don't recall hearing too much in that regard anyway). The industry can move on to the next new face in even less time than that. IIRC I think that Alice might have been absent for two.

Wow. Who cares if it is modelling domestically? It's still a major campaign. That doesn't require sugar coating - it's a great job for Alice. Maybe she doesn't want to model internationally, or she doesn't feel like she is cut out for it. She still successful, and is has obviously focussed on campaigns rather than runway shows.

Tbh, she still looks lovely to me.. only she isnt exactly turning on her charm for that pap photo is she?

Wow, indeed.

My sugar-coating comment was directed to your comment that she hadn't quit "especially not a long time ago". There was speculation of her taking a break nearly one year ago. Then we saw/heard less and less from her and her portfolios began to disappear from some of her overseas agencies. With no other explanation given for one's absence, IMO, those are strong indications that a model has quit. And yes, I consider that a long time ago especially since I quite honestly do not remember hearing a lot of news from her in that span except for some events she did with the other winners and the first Myer campaign.

As for her modelling locally:

Obviously there are people that do care that she is no longer modelling internationally given the overwhelming disappointment that she has not been walking in any of the fashion weeks and vying for a blue chip campaigns or possibly an editorial in French or Italian Vogue. Her rise to becoming a top model was largely due to the fact that she was working internationally. It's the reason why people outside of NTM fandom knew her name and face. It's the reason why so many (those who didn't even watch the show or only did after they found out she won) took an interest in her career.

I almost never see Gemma Sanderson's name listed when people talk about the most successful contestants even though she has worked consistently in Australia for several years. Do I really have to ask why?

A lot of people pay lip service to the work some of the girls do and I have played devil's advocate in favour of those that are making money but are not top models with a lowercase t, but whenever a Patricia comes along it is always clear to me what many NTM fans (and most of those outside of the fandom) really want out of these contestants post-show -- especially if they have already proven that they can get that kind of work like Alice.

I see these types of comments all the time: 01 02 03 04 05

Well put. Alice proved she could booked major campaigns, shows and editorials. She could have continued but it's become obvious she wasn't that ambitious. This to me is proof of how smart she is. People forget how exhausting and unrewarding the show circuit and the industry in general are for new "girls" in the first couple years. All get into debt with their agencies, even someone as relatively successful as Alice. Karlie Kloss walked what looked like every single show her first season but it took a couple more for her to book major campaigns.
Alice had the alternative Australia presented where she could get good, well paid work without half the hassle of the alist markets. I do miss her and was really rooting for her but this was a smart choice.

I think it could be very true!!

Oh, how I wish for an Alice return. I wish she would simply come with an official statement if we are to ever see her strutting the runways in NY, Milan and Paris....

^ My feelings on Alice is that she will never return to the big fashion show, but will continue modeling Australia. She looks amazing in that campaign.
